Vice President of Development

Salary Range:$120,900.00 To $151,450.00 Annually

Compudopt is a leading national nonprofit organization that aims to provide technology access and education to under-resourced youth and their communities by bridging the digital divide. Compudopt is seeking a strong leader for the Vice President of Development role. The Vice President of Development is responsible for driving Compudopt's growth and impact through innovative and diversified fundraising strategies. As a member of the Leadership Team, this position will lead efforts to secure and grow revenue streams, while fostering a culture of philanthropy that aligns with Compudopt’s mission and values. This role is accountable for driving revenue performance through disciplined goal setting, team alignment, and consistent progress tracking to ensure fundraising targets are achieved. This position is remote and will require up to 20% travel throughout the United States.

Major Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year strategy to significantly increase philanthropic revenue, supporting a $20M+ annual fundraising goal.
  • Oversee, mentor, and evaluate a team of fundraising professionals, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture. 
  • Ensure the team has the resources, guidance, and capacity to meet ambitious revenue goals.
  • Translate annual fundraising goals into clear weekly, monthly, and quarterly revenue targets across fundraising verticals (major gifts, corporate grants, individual giving).
  • Lead regular revenue performance reviews (weekly check-ins, monthly progress assessments, quarterly forecasts) to ensure accountability, momentum, and course correction as needed.
  • Galvanize and align the fundraising team around shared revenue goals, creating clarity, urgency, and ownership of individual and collective targets.
  • Establish performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting rhythms that track pipeline health, forecast accuracy, and progress toward revenue targets.
  • Lead initiatives to diversify revenue streams, including major and principal gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and individual giving programs.
  • Cultivate a culture of philanthropy across the organization, ensuring alignment with Compudopt’s mission and core values.
  • Design and execute a robust fundraising plan that includes innovative approaches to donor engagement, corporate partnerships, and board participation to enhance and sustain revenue streams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at local, regional, and national levels, including board members, major donors, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic partners.
  • Hold a personal portfolio prioritizing national accounts of 6- to 7-figure gifts. 
  • Actively prospect, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners to maximize engagement and philanthropic support.
  • Support and drive board involvement in fundraising efforts.
  • Forecast revenue performance and proactively identify risks and opportunities, adjusting strategies to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor annual fundraising plans and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial sustainability.
  • Create strategies that leverage volunteer and board connections for fundraising opportunities and outreach.
  • Build strong relationships across departments to support integrated fundraising efforts, aligning with programmatic goals and initiatives.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in philanthropic giving and development at the national or regional level, with five years in a senior leadership management role.
  • Verified track record of success in increasing donor engagement, meeting or exceeding measurable fundraising goals, generating new revenue, and in securing major gifts (7-figures), corporate sponsorships, and other philanthropic contributions, with a deep understanding of nonprofit operations and leveraging programs for success.

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in finance, nonprofit management, business, public administration, or a related discipline 
  • Certification in fundraising (CFRE) or similar accreditation
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficiency in a variety of fundraising techniques, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, annual giving campaigns, and grant writing.
  • Proven leadership experience in leading diverse teams of fundraising staff and building teams.
  • Proficiency in fundraising software and donor management systems. 
  • Strong project management and analytical skills with the ability to interpret fundraising data, evaluate performance metrics, and make informed decisions to drive growth.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including donors, corporate partners, and board members.
