Gotham Immersive Laboratories is the company behind many immersive experiences, including our flagship experience, the Great Gotham Challenge, an immersive puzzle adventure based in New York City. About the Role
The NYC Event Producer will support the Clue Creation team in executing immersive events across the city. This role requires strong experience in event, film, or theater producing (or equivalent). Related fields such as production design, location management, production management, project management, or physical manufacturing are also relevant.
The ability to travel to and scout venues in NYC will be important, and a knowledge-of and relationships in the events, venue, location, space industry in NYC are also a huge plus. This producer role will be instrumental in negotiating contracts and agreements with vendors - both formal and handshake - so a high capacity for interpersonal relationships and winsome charisma is important.
Additionally, work at GGC is about making the impossible possible, often through self-initiated out-of-the-box thinking. Although we have a strong team dynamic, - it’s up to each one of us to take initiative and devise solutions for the complex problems we encounter. The ability to work independently and problem-solve on your own is critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Venue Scouting & Logistics: Identify, evaluate, scout, and secure locations in NYC that align with our creative vision. Knowledge-of and relationships in the event, venue, location, space industry in NYC is a plus.
- Vendor & Contract Negotiation: Secure both formal and informal agreements with vendors, ensuring smooth execution with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Manufacturing: Oversee and participate in the creation, ordering, manufacture, assembly proofing, and testing of puzzle elements, including researching and negotiating with vendors.
- Production Coordination: Oversee the manufacturing of puzzles, props, and event elements, ensuring all components integrate effectively upon final delivery.
- On-Site Event Execution: Lead the logistical setup and coordination of immersive experiences in real-world environments.
Schedule and Location:
Much of the work will take place remotely, but duties will also be performed at our office in downtown Brooklyn, other workspaces around Manhattan, and on the streets of New York. Meetings with the team will take place during business hours (9-5 Mon-Fri ET), so having a flexible schedule that can accommodate scheduled calls is important.
Other Information
Applicants don't have to have a deep interest in puzzles or experience in the immersive industry, but a keen mind and willingness to learn is important.
It is imperative that the candidate for this position has a deep understanding of physical and spatial relationships. The producer will be responsible for producing events in large venues, and must understand how these spaces can be utilized effectively. This position will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing of small props and components used in our experiences, so being able to imagine how small disparate elements interact is critical. For instance, understanding how a ribbon might cover a pencil when wrapped in a spiral around it, and being able to figure out how to properly mock up, proof, and oversee the manufacture of the resulting ribbon would be important.
Participants should be proficient with Google Docs / Sheets and comfortable using Discord and Zoom.

Details and Compensation
The job is dynamic and fast-paced with flexible, part-time hours throughout March, April and May (2-5 hours / week), and steadily ramping up throughout the summer. Hourly commitments in most of September and early October will approach or surpass 40 hours a week.
Compensation
Pay is commensurate with experience, and operates on a scale from $30 - $45 / hour.
