Fellowship position (1): Strategic/Earned Media Communications
Fellowship position (2): Digital Communications
Fellowship dates: June 1, 2026 - August 28, 2026
Application deadline: March 13, 2026
Compensation: $20/hr
Hours: 9-6, Monday - Friday
Location: Hybrid/NY, DC, LA, SF
Description of duties include, but are not limited to:
(1) Strategic/Earned Media Communications Fellow
- Monitor news media and social media; compile summaries of coverage
- Research relevant journalists for targeted pitches and build media lists
- Conduct media and peer audits for client research and discovery processes
- Pitch all levels of reporters, editors, producers, bloggers
- Conduct research on issue areas, online communities, media markets and new business prospects
- Help create and edit press releases, advisories, pitch memos, fact sheets, op-eds, online content and other collateral
- Assist account staff with various media, administrative and research activities
- Conduct communications audits
- Help with landscape and competitive analysis research projects; gather insights to inform campaigns and communications strategies.
- Organize logistics for client meetings, conferences and other events
- Develop presentations and design materials
- Proofread/copy edit documents
- Participate in creative brainstorm sessions
- Support digital campaigns, website projects and social media management as needed
- Develop and share a capstone presentation based on an assigned client account work
(2) Digital Communications Fellow
- Assist account staff with various digital, administrative and research activities.
- Support social media campaigns and community management for a variety of progressive clients
- Write and develop copy for outreach/campaign emails, blogs, and other forms of digital content
- Deploy and send direct communications via email sending and SMS platforms like ActionNetwork and Mailchimp
- Search and monitor (sometimes unpleasant) corners of the internet to help clients identify ways to optimize outreach or respond to opposition disinformation
- Support the deployment of paid campaigns on a variety of platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google AdWords
- Draft ad copy and manage tracking documents for client review
- Utilize online metrics tools to report on statistics for websites, social media sites, email campaigns and online advertising
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Eligible college students entering junior or senior year and recent college grads
- Demonstrated writing and research skills
- Passion for communications (what gets clicks, why words matter and so much more)
- Ability to work on multiple projects and effectively pivot from one to the next in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and organization
- Interested in social issues
- Has an affinity for traditional and digital news media
- We have adopted a hybrid remote/in-office worksite model. We require all employees to live within a 35-mile radius of any one of our four strategic hubs (New York, D.C., LA or SF). You have the option to work remotely from your home and will travel to Company meetings/events as needed, or you can work from any one of our shared workspaces.

Capstone Presentation
With guidance and mentorship from your Fellow advisor, you will develop a 5–10-minute presentation at the completion of the fellowship to Fenton staff outlining your role on a client project you learned from and want to share. The presentation will include conveying the strategies, tools and tactics used to approach the project, as well as results you were able to achieve and what was learned.
