Fall 2026 Lighting Supervisor WLS Level 4

I.     WLS Level: 4

 

II.    Description Of Duties For This Position:

  1. Hanging lighting instruments, as instructed by the faculty supervisor. 
  2. Focusing lighting instruments as instructed by the faculty supervisor
  3. Advanced programming of the lighting console 
  4. Advanced light plot and paperwork understanding
  5. Oversee the assignments of duties for the electrician, in collaboration with the faculty member 
  6. Supervise electricians WLS 1-3 during light hand and focus
  7. Train electricians WLS 1-3 on their duties and lighting department protocol 
  8. Work independently on assigned duties
  9. Act as the liaison between the faculty supervisors and electricians 
  10. Promote safety in the workplace
  11. Supervise with or without the faculty supervisor any volunteer worked in electrics
  12. Manage the lighting crew for all technical rehearsals and performances for all productions during the year
  13. M.Supervise all strikes following the final performance of all productions or as they are scheduled by the faculty member
  14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the faculty supervisor 
  15. Lighting design opportunities are available but must be applied for the following departments procedures 
  16. See that the workplace and environments are clean

 

III. Learning Opportunities For This Position:

  1. This position allows a student to learn advanced lighting skills for the theatre.
  2. Position allows students to expand production crew duties and responsibilities 
  3. Lighting design opportunities are available but must be applied for the following departmental procedures. 

 

IV.  Qualifications Needed For This Position:

  1. General: General good health, energy, and alertness
  2. Skills: advanced theatrical lighting experience 
  3. Physical: physical mobility, manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, ability to comfortably work at heights up to 20 feet or greater and cramped spaces.
