Fall 2026 Assistant Electrician WLS Level 3

I.     WLS Level:  3

 

II.    Description Of Duties For This Position:

  1. Hanging lighting instruments, as instructed by Master Electrician and faculty supervisor. 
  2. Focusing lighting instruments, as instructed by master electrician and faculty supervisor.
  3. Intermediate programming of the lighting console 
  4. Intermediate lighting plot and paperwork understanding.
  5. Assist Master electrician with supervising electrician WLS 1-2 during light hang and focus.
  6. Assist master electrician with training electricians with training electricians WLS 1-2 on their duties and lighting department protocol.
  7. Working independently on assigned duties.
  8. Promote safety in the workplace.
  9. Assist master electrician and/or the faculty in supervising volunteer workers in electrics.
  10. Run lighting for all technical rehearsals and performances during the year. 
  11. Participate in all strikes following the final performance of all productions or as they are scheduled by the faculty supervisor.
  12. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the master electrician and faculty supervisor.
  13. See that the workplace and environment are clean.

 

III. Learning Opportunities For This Position:

  1. This position allows a student to learn advanced lighting skills for the theatre. 
  2. Position allows students to expand production crew duties and responsibilities.
  3. Position provides hands-on experiences for the lighting technician. 

 

IV.  Qualifications Needed For This Position:

  1. General : general good health, energy, and alertness
  2. Skills: Intermediate theatrical lighting experience
  3. Physical: physical mobility, manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, ability to comfortable work at heights up to 20 feet or greater and cramped spaces.
