Fall 2026 Assistant Electrician WLS Level 3
I. WLS Level: 3
II. Description Of Duties For This Position:
- Hanging lighting instruments, as instructed by Master Electrician and faculty supervisor.
- Focusing lighting instruments, as instructed by master electrician and faculty supervisor.
- Intermediate programming of the lighting console
- Intermediate lighting plot and paperwork understanding.
- Assist Master electrician with supervising electrician WLS 1-2 during light hang and focus.
- Assist master electrician with training electricians with training electricians WLS 1-2 on their duties and lighting department protocol.
- Working independently on assigned duties.
- Promote safety in the workplace.
- Assist master electrician and/or the faculty in supervising volunteer workers in electrics.
- Run lighting for all technical rehearsals and performances during the year.
- Participate in all strikes following the final performance of all productions or as they are scheduled by the faculty supervisor.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the master electrician and faculty supervisor.
- See that the workplace and environment are clean.
III. Learning Opportunities For This Position:
- This position allows a student to learn advanced lighting skills for the theatre.
- Position allows students to expand production crew duties and responsibilities.
- Position provides hands-on experiences for the lighting technician.
IV. Qualifications Needed For This Position:
- General : general good health, energy, and alertness
- Skills: Intermediate theatrical lighting experience
- Physical: physical mobility, manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, ability to comfortable work at heights up to 20 feet or greater and cramped spaces.
