Fall 2026 Lighting Technician Assistant WLS Level 2

I.     WLS Level: 2

II.    Description Of Duties For This Position:

1. Hanging lighting instruments as instructed by the master electrician and faculty supervisor
2. Focus lighting instruments as instructed by the master electrician and faculty supervisor
3. Beginner programming of the lighting console
4. Beginner light plot and paperwork understanding
5. Work more independently on assigned duties
6. Promote safety in the workplace
7. Assist the master electrician and/or the faculty supervisor in supervising volunteer workers in electrics
8. Run lighting for all technical rehearsals and performances for all productions during the year
9. Participate in all strikes following the final performance of all productions or as they are scheduled by the faculty supervisor
10. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the master electrician and faculty supervisor 
11. See that the workplace and environment are clean

III. Learning Opportunities For This Position:

1. This positon allows a student to learn intermediate lighting skills for the theatre 
2. Positon allows students to expand production crew duties and responsibilities 
3. Positon provides hand-on experience for the lighting technician. 

IV.  Qualifications Needed For This Position:

1. General: general good health, energy, and alertness.
2. Skill: Basic theoretical lighting experience 
3. Physical: physical mobility, manual dexterity, ability to life up to 45 pounds, ability to comfortably work at heights up to 20 feet or greater and cramped spaced.
