Fall 2026 Lighting Technician Assistant WLS Level 2
I. WLS Level: 2
II. Description Of Duties For This Position:
- Hanging lighting instruments as instructed by the master electrician and faculty supervisor
- Focus lighting instruments as instructed by the master electrician and faculty supervisor
- Beginner programming of the lighting console
- Beginner light plot and paperwork understanding
- Work more independently on assigned duties
- Promote safety in the workplace
- Assist the master electrician and/or the faculty supervisor in supervising volunteer workers in electrics
- Run lighting for all technical rehearsals and performances for all productions during the year
- Participate in all strikes following the final performance of all productions or as they are scheduled by the faculty supervisor
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the master electrician and faculty supervisor
- See that the workplace and environment are clean
III. Learning Opportunities For This Position:
- This positon allows a student to learn intermediate lighting skills for the theatre
- Positon allows students to expand production crew duties and responsibilities
- Positon provides hand-on experience for the lighting technician.
IV. Qualifications Needed For This Position:
- General: general good health, energy, and alertness.
- Skill: Basic theoretical lighting experience
- Physical: physical mobility, manual dexterity, ability to life up to 45 pounds, ability to comfortably work at heights up to 20 feet or greater and cramped spaced.
