Fall 2026 Makeup And Wig Designer WLS Level 4
I. WLS Level: 4
II. Description Of Duties For This Position:
- Follow the appropriate design process for developing the makeup and hair/wig designs for each character in all productions, in collaboration with the faculty supervisor, costume designer, and director;
- Create makeup schematics for each actor in all productions, in collaboration with the faculty supervisor and costume designer;
- Attend all production meetings for all productions for the year and provide a report of the status of the makeup and hair/wig designs;
- Maintain make-up and wig storages, in consultation with the faculty supervisor;
- Instruct all actors in the application of their makeup and hairstyles for the production prior to dress rehearsal;
- Coordinate makeup color swatching and makeup orders for all actors for all productions, in collaboration with the faculty supervisor; Student Labor Position Description Single WLS Level Form
- Supervise and instruct the Costumers WLS 1-3 during dress rehearsals and performances about all makeup and hair needs for the actors;
- Supervise all strikes following the final performance of all productions or as they are scheduled by the faculty supervisor;
- Creating and managing a schedule, adhering to all production deadlines, in collaboration with the faculty supervisor, costume designer, and director;
- Work with very little supervision;
- Maintain a sanitary and healthy work environment;
- See that the workplace and environments are clean;
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including but not limited to basic costume construction.
III. Learning Opportunities For This Position:

- This position allows a student to learn and develop hair/wig techniques for the stage
- This position allows a student to learn the design process for theatrical makeup and hair.
IV. Qualifications Needed For This Position:
- General: Pleasant disposition and a positive attitude, the ability to work with others, and the ability to work under stress.
- Skill: Theatrical makeup or cosmetology; hair and/or wig styling a plus
- Physical: None
- Academic: THR 124 Visual Concepts for the Stage and THR 220 Seminar in Design & Production: Makeup; or permission of the faculty supervisor
