Worship Director
WORSHIP DIRECTOR
Agape Church seeks to have a worship experience that utilizes a variety of elements and styles that focuses on giving glory to God. Our worship experience will inspire the people of our church to full participation in connecting with God through passion filled, Spirit-Led worship. This includes, but is not limited to, song selection, preparing the worship environment, caring for the members of the team and building a team of willing and skillful people. The Worship Director should be able to lead a multi-ethnic congregation through a musical selection that is diverse as well (Elevation, Bethel Music, Hezekiah Walker, Hillsong United, Fred Hammond, William McDowell, BJ Putnam, Israel Houghton, Maverick City, etc.)
Spiritual Qualifications:
1. Demonstrate a passion for Jesus and his Kingdom through personal spiritual discipline and public ministry.
2. Seek to grow in that relationship with Christ through personal spiritual discipline, education, accountability and service to his Kingdom.
Professional Qualifications
1. Experience: At least 1 year of leading a congregation or ministry in public worship, with a commitment of seeking to grow in that area, perhaps through further training.
2. Musical skills: Ability to lead worship while playing the keyboard or guitar. Must have an understanding of basic music theory.
3. Education: At least 1 year of biblical & ministry education at the collegiate level preferred, though not absolutely necessary.
General Duties
1. Work with the Pastor to create a well planned and life-giving worship experience that allows everyone from The Lost to the mature believer to encounter God in our worship services.
2. To oversee and coordinate all musical aspects of the worship service.
a. Lead praise band, singers, and congregation in worship at weekly Sunday morning worship service 12 of 13 Sundays each quarter. Volunteer worship leaders can lead 2 of 13.
b. Any necessary rehearsals; likely a weekly evening rehearsal and Sunday morning warm-up/review which should be completed before 9:30am.
c. Coordinate music/worship experiences for special events (i.e. Easter, Christmas, Church Anniversary, etc.)
3. Coordinate ProPresenter presentations; making copies of chord charts; scheduling worship team members using Planning Center; equipment set up; emails /phone calls as needed
4. Recruit, audition musicians and singers. Lead or coordinate leadership of the worship team small group promote spiritual growth and the build relationships among team members.
5. Periodically review all instruments to make sure that they are in good working order. If anything needs repaired or to purchase new instruments, it must be approved by Board of Directors.
6. Any additional duties as agreed upon by the Worship Director and Pastor

1. Worship Director should be a contributing member of the Creative Team for the church.
Additional Information
1. Director position is under the direct supervision of the Lead Pastor
2. The Lead Pastor will give the Worship Director an annual evaluation. The results of which will be submitted to the Board of Directors to see if the church is in a financial and visionary position to provide a pay increase.
3. Worship Director receives 40 hours of vacation time per year which is given on the first day of every calendar year. Sick time is accrued at a rate of 1 hour per pay period.
4. Arranging for Substitutes:
a. Due to the nature of church ministry employment, the Worship Director is expected to schedule a substitute to fulfill the worship duties in their absence (whether it is due to vacation or illness). The substitute should not jeopardize the vision of the worship ministry and quality of the worship experience at the church regardless of the service day, date or occasion.
b. Other Unpaid Sundays Off: Any additional Sundays off must be agreed upon between the Worship Director and the Lead Pastor, and they will be unpaid. On these Sundays the Worship Director should schedule a substitute that does not jeopardize the vision of the worship ministry and quality of the worship experience at the church regardless of the service day, date or occasion.
c. If any emergency arises requiring time off, please inform the Lead Pastor and the two will work together to find a substitute for plan to meet the worship needs of the church.
4. Any issues or concerns that the Worship Director may have should be addressed in a timely manner with the Lead Pastor for reconciliation of those items as efficiently as possible.
5. It is possible that this position may change or evolve with time. The Lead Pastor asks for cooperation as we continue to strive to make our worship experience even more excellent for our changing and growing congregation.
6. Hours: This position with the Other Duties will be a 40-45 hour/week commitment. The Worship Director is asked to track hours work and submit them to the Lead Pastor on the 15th and last day of every month. Weekly commitments include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Sunday Morning Worship Service (6 Hours)
b. Weekly Rehearsal (2 Hours)
c. Personal Preparation - Worship/Small Groups (4 hours)
e. Weekly Staff and Planning Meeting (3 Hours)
c. Morning Prayer (1 Hour)
d. Miscellaneous Duties in support of the overall vision of the church (5 Hours)
7. Worship Director must be a tithing member of Agape Church
8. Compensation: The annual starting compensation is between $36,000 - $48,000, not based on hourly work. This amount can increase if the candidate possesses other skills that further excellence in ministry (graphic design, video editing, photography, social media marketing, web design, etc.)
The Top Strategic Goals for this Position:
1. Take the Sunday morning worship experience to the next level through song selection, skill development of worship members, and spiritual growth through the worship team small group.
2. Develop the "First Wednesday" worship service in collaboration with the Lead Pastor
2. To plan worship services at least 3 weeks in advance.
3. Recruit other band members, singers, volunteer worship leader(s), sound engineers and tech team members to support the worship experience.
4. To lead a weekly night practice time for the worship teams, including times of prayer and spiritual growth together.
5. To cultivate greater community within the worship ministry.
6. Develop relationships with the members of Agape Church to enhance your personal effectiveness in leading the congregation in worship.
