Business Development Intern

Business Development Intern (Sales & Outreach)

Location: Hybrid / Remote (Flexible based on school schedule)

Time Commitment:  10–20 hours per week during the semester

Role Overview

The New Business Development Intern will support client growth initiatives by helping generate and schedule first-time sales appointments. This role is focused on outreach, communication, creativity, and execution, leveraging modern sales tools, AI, and multi-channel engagement strategies.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in sales development, marketing outreach, buyer psychology, and professional communication, while working directly with a sales consulting and training firm and its clients. Once meetings are scheduled, the client’s account managers take over—allowing interns to focus on prospecting, messaging, and experimentation.

This is an ideal role for students interested in sales, marketing, communication, psychology, business, or entrepreneurship who want practical experience and measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales & Outreach Execution
  • Research and identify prospective contacts aligned with client target profiles
  • Conduct outbound outreach using multiple channels, including:
  • Email
  • Phone calls
  • LinkedIn and social platforms
  • Video messages and creative touchpoints
  • Schedule qualified first-time meetings for client sales or account management teams
  • Messaging & Personalization
  • Customize outreach messages based on prospect role, industry, and challenges
  • Apply communication and buyer psychology principles to increase response rates
  • Continuously refine messaging based on results and feedback
  • Technology & AI Utilization
  • Leverage CRM systems and sales engagement tools to track activity and outcomes

Use AI tools to:

  • Draft and optimize outreach messages
  • Research prospects and companies
  • Analyze what messaging and channels are most effective

Collaboration & Learning:

  • Participate in regular coaching, feedback, and skill-building sessions
  • Collaborate with sales consultants and client teams
  • Document best practices and successful outreach strategies

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort initiating conversations with professionals
  • Ability to manage time, tasks, and follow-up independently
  • Coachable mindset and willingness to try new approaches
  • Basic comfort with technology and digital tools

Preferred Skills:

  • Interest in sales, marketing, communication, psychology, or business
  • Experience with LinkedIn, email marketing, or CRM tools
  • Familiarity with AI tools (ChatGPT, automation platforms, etc.)
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum Requirements
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student
  • Majoring (or interested) in business, marketing, communications, psychology, or a related field
  • Ability to commit at least one academic semester
  • Reliable internet access and ability to work remotely
