UX/UI Designer Internship-to-hire

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented UX/UI Designer Intern to join our team. This role provides hands-on experience supporting the design and improvement of a desktop software application, with exposure to the full product development lifecycle. The intern will collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to enhance usability, support user-centered design decisions, and contribute to documentation and research efforts. This position offers the potential for conversion to a full-time role based on performance and business needs. This position requires to be on-site at our Irvine HQ office 3x's / week.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and improvement of the user experience and user interface for a desktop application.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to translate user needs and product requirements into thoughtful design solutions.
  • Assist with user research activities, including usability testing, interviews, surveys, and synthesis of findings.
  • Contribute to wireframes, mockups, user flows, and design documentation.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve product usability, consistency, and overall user satisfaction.
  • Support improvements to product documentation and design-related processes as part of the broader product development workflow.

 

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in a related field such as UX/UI Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated interest or foundational experience in UX/UI design or product development.
  • Familiarity with user research methods (e.g., usability testing, interviews, surveys).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to commute to the Irvine headquarters on a hybrid, on-site schedule.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar.
  • Exposure to AI technologies or Large Language Models (LLMs) is a plus, but not required.
  • Interest in complex software products or technical applications.
