We are excited to announce our 2026 Summer Internship program!

 

Our summer internship program runs from Tuesday, June 9th, to Wednesday July 29th. The program is hybrid, with in-office work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and remote work on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and we provide all necessary equipment to help you succeed in your role.

 

As an intern, you will work on real business projects, gaining exposure to various aspects of the company and having the opportunity to make an impact. You will also connect with Delta Dental employees across different business functions, helping you expand your professional network. Throughout the eight-week program, we’ll assist with resume and LinkedIn profile development and provide you with a LinkedIn Learning license. Interns will meet weekly to share experiences and learn from our business leaders. At the end of the program, interns will have the chance to have lunch with Delta Dental’s CEO.

Interns will be compensated at an hourly rate of $22.00.

Position Summary

The Accounting Intern will support Delta Dental’s Finance team by assisting with core accounting activities, reconciliations, and month‑end processes. Working under the guidance of Accounting Managers, the intern will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of financial data and gain exposure to financial reporting, general ledger activities, and internal controls.

 

In addition to hands‑on accounting experience, the intern will collaborate with interns from other departments on cross‑functional projects and attend learning sessions focused on Delta Dental’s business operations, financial strategy, and the healthcare industry. This internship is ideal for students pursuing careers in accounting, finance, or business analytics who are interested in applying academic knowledge in a real‑world environment.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

 

Accounting Operations & Financial Support

  • Assist with preparing monthly account reconciliations, including analyzing balances and investigating discrepancies.
  • Support the preparation of journal entries for inclusion in the general ledger.
  • Assist with month‑end close activities under supervision.
  • Support cash and bank reconciliation processes.
  • Prepare accurate financial data for inclusion in internal financial reports.

Data Analysis & Documentation

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas requiring follow‑up.
  • Maintain organized documentation to support reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Assist in documenting standard accounting procedures as needed.

Team Collaboration & Professional Conduct

  • Shadow members of the Finance and Accounting teams to gain exposure to daily operations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members across Finance and other departments.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential financial information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Technical and Functional

  • Ability to manage multiple assignment and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment. 
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Team oriented mindset with an interest in understanding how individual tasks contribute to broader business goals. 
  • Clear Verbal and written communication skills

 

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Relevant coursework in accounting, finance, or business is a plus but not required
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel or financial systems is helpful but not required
  • Interest in accounting operations, financial reporting, or corporate finance encouraged.

Working Environment
