Project Management Intern

We are excited to announce our 2026 Summer Internship program!

Our summer internship program runs from Tuesday, June 9th, to Wednesday, July 29th. The program is hybrid, with in-office work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and remote work on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and we provide all necessary equipment to help you succeed in your role.

As an intern, you will work on real business projects, gaining exposure to various aspects of the company and having the opportunity to make an impact. You will also connect with Delta Dental employees across different business functions, helping you expand your professional network. Throughout the eight-week program, we’ll assist with resume and LinkedIn profile development and provide you with a LinkedIn Learning license. Interns will meet weekly to share experiences and learn from our business leaders. At the end of the program, interns will have the chance to have lunch with Delta Dental’s CEO.

Interns will be compensated at an hourly rate of $22.00.

Job Summary

This internship provides a unique opportunity to apply classroom learning in a fast-paced, high-performing Project Management & Release Management team.  The Project Management intern will gain hands-on exposure to how projects and initiatives are planned, prioritized, executed, and delivered across the organization.  

The intern will support both large-scale corporate initiatives and smaller technology releases and enhancements, helping ensure work aligns with DDNJ/CT’s overall business strategy. This role is ideal for students interested in project management, business analysis, operations, or technology-enabled change. 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Project and Initiative Support

  • Assist with managing smaller project deliverables that support larger corporate initiatives or technological enhancements. 
  • Organize and maintain project artifacts and update documentation associated with PMO process execution within projects
  • Help track tasks, milestones, and dependencies to support on-time project delivery

Shadowing and Cross-Functional Exposure

  • Shadow Business Analysts and Project Managers to understand the day-to-day functions and responsibilities of each role. 
  • Observe project meetings, planning sessions, and status updates to understand how teams collaborate and communicate.
  • Collaborate with technology, business partners and other departments throughout DDNJ/CT.

Portfolio and Strategy Exposure

  • Partner with the AVP, PMO to gain insight into how a portfolio of projects is built and aligned to corporate strategy.
  • Learning how day-to-day project work connects to broader organizational priorities and long-term goals. 

Learning and Engagement

  • Participate in training sessions to build enterprise-wide understanding
  • Engage with multiple business areas to develop a well-rounded view of the organization. 

Intern Learning and Development Opportunities 

  • Project Management Fundamentals: Managing scope, schedule & budget.
  • Corporate Project Execution: Understand how these principles are applied in a corporate environment.
  • Project and Business Documentation: Creating clear, effective project materials and communication tools. 
  • Release and Change Management: Understanding how enhancements, fixes, and changes are planned and delivered.  
  • Professional Skills Development: building emotional intelligence, communication skills, and strong working relationships in a corporate setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Motivated, proactive self-starter comfortable learning new tasks and working with team guidance. 
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented mindset with an interest in understanding how individual tasks contribute to broader business goals.  
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills

Experience, Education and Certifications Required 

Minimum Experience/Education Required

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Information Systems, Technology, Operations, or a related field 
  • Relevant coursework, academic projects, or prior internship experience is a plus, but not required 
  • Interest in project management, business analysis, or organizational change encouraged

Working Environment
