About Latina Republic
Latina Republic is a community-centered, 501C3 Nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting immigrant families through culturally responsive mental health education, empowerment, and advocacy. We design workshops and resources that help families navigate emotional wellness, parenting, communication, and adjustment challenges across generations and cultures.
Our work serves Latino families as well as other immigrant communities, with an emphasis on accessibility, cultural humility, and bilingual engagement.
Internship Overview
We are seeking passionate, creative, and community-minded students—especially psychology majors—who are interested in designing and supporting mental health and wellness workshops for immigrant families. This internship is ideal for students who want meaningful, hands-on experience applying psychological concepts beyond the classroom while making a real impact.
Interns will collaborate on the development of workshops offered in Spanish and English, focused on supporting parents, teens, and families navigating stress, identity, communication, and mental health challenges related to immigration and cultural adjustment.
Key Focus Areas
Interns may help design or support workshops on topics such as:
Managing anxiety and depression in immigrant families
Strengthening parent–child and parent–teen communication
Supporting teens’ self-esteem, identity, and self-love
Empowerment workshops for immigrant single parents
Parenting skills and positive discipline across cultures
Helping immigrant parents support their children’s education and communicate with schools
Anti-bullying, resilience, and emotional regulation
Mental health adjustment for first- and second-generation youth
Multi-generational immigrant challenges at home
Intern Responsibilities
Assist in designing culturally responsive mental health workshops
Research evidence-based practices related to immigrant and family mental health
Help adapt content for bilingual (Spanish/English) audiences
Support workshop facilitation, outreach, and materials development
Collaborate with a diverse, mission-driven team
Reflect on ethical, cultural, and systemic factors impacting mental health
