Digital Marketing Coordinator

Description

Reports to: Director of Communications

Hours: Part-time – 20 - 30 hours per week

Location: Primarily remote (Southern California required) with occasional in-person support as needed, 1 to 2 times per month.

Who We Are

L. Norwood & Associates (LNA) is a rapidly growing, Black woman-led boutique consulting firm specializing in campaigns, strategy, communications, digital, and capacity building for nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and political issue campaigns. We are a lean, high-impact team supporting initiatives that center and uplift Black, Indigenous, Latine/x/o, AAPI, and other communities of color in social issues related to democracy, social justice, worker rights, power-building, and reproductive justice.

Our work spans movement building, public education, narrative change, and policy advocacy. We believe culturally responsive campaigns require communications and storytelling to be essential tools for advancing justice and systemic change. Our team is deeply committed to values-aligned, community-centered work that delivers meaningful impact.

Who You Are

You are a hands-on digital campaigner who enjoys execution and distribution to bring campaigns to life across platforms. You are detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently once direction is provided. You take pride in producing polished digital outputs, tracking performance, and keeping content consistent and on-brand.

You enjoy execution more than strategy-setting and thrive in roles where you can receive clear direction and then run with implementation. You are motivated by contributing to meaningful work and supporting strong communications without needing to be the primary decision-maker.

About the Position

We are seeking a part-time or contract Digital Marketing Coordinator to support our growing digital communications work. This role reports to the Director of Communications and focuses on executing digital deliverables across social media, email, and paid advertising support.

The Digital Marketing Coordinator will take narrative and strategic direction from the Director of Communications and help translate that direction into high-quality digital execution. This role supports campaign effectiveness by ensuring content is timely, organized, and consistently delivered across platforms.

This is a primarily remote role, but candidates should be comfortable occasionally providing in-person support for content capture (such as photographing events, capturing short-form video, or gathering social media content) when needed for client projects, team activities, or campaign moments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and publish social media posts across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Maintain and manage social media content calendars
  • Format content appropriately for different platforms (character limits, links, tags, etc.)
  • Ability to create simple visual assets using Canva or Adobe tools
  • Familiarity with Meta Ads Manager
  • Basic website editing (i.e. WordPress)

Email Campaign Support

  • Build and schedule email campaigns using platforms such as Mailchimp, HubSpot, or similar tools
  • Format content for clarity, accessibility, and engagement
  • Support basic list management and organization

Paid Advertising Support

  • Support paid advertising efforts in collaboration with the Digital Ads Manager by:
    • Tracking campaign performance
    • Pulling reports
    • Monitoring metrics
    • Assisting with optimization tasks as directed
  • Maintain organized records of ad assets, timelines, and results

Organization & Coordination

  • Maintain organized tracking of digital campaigns, assets, links, and performance
  • Coordinate with the Director of Communications and Designer to ensure content aligns with brand, voice, and goals
  • Support coordination with external vendors (e.g., developers, contractors) when digital updates are needed

On-the-Ground Content Support

  • Provide occasional in-person support for:
    • Event content capture
    • Photography or short-form video
    • Social media content gathering
  • Support documenting key moments for storytelling and digital use

(This is a supplemental function and not a daily expectation.)

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in digital marketing, communications, social media, or related fields
  • Experience executing content across platforms (social, email, websites, or ads)
  • Experience working in nonprofit, advocacy, agency, or mission-driven environments preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (designers, strategists, developers, etc.)
  • Comfort working in fast-moving environments where priorities may shift

Required Skills

  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and best practices
  • Experience using email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, HubSpot, Constant Contact, etc.)
  • Comfort with digital tools such as Google Workspace and project management platforms (Asana, Monday, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of digital metrics (engagement, reach, CTR, open rates, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Ability to take direction and independently execute high-quality work
  • Clear written communication and professionalism
  • Alignment with social justice values and comfort working on equity-centered campaigns

Compensation

This is a part-time hourly role, primarily remote. Candidates must be based in Southern California with willingness to occasionally provide on the ground support.

Compensation range: $25–$34 per hour, depending on experience.

Application Instructions

Interested applicants should submit a resume, brief cover letter, and 1–3 examples of relevant digital work (such as social media posts, email campaigns, ads, or similar) through our Gusto posting or by emailing hr@lanaenorwood.com. Please no phone calls.
