Internship: Global Affairs Analyst (Energy & Foreign Policy) — Summer 2026 (Remote, Optional Virginia Office)
Location: Remote (with the option to relocate to Virginia and work from the office)
Duration (two options):
- June–August 2026 (preferred full summer), or
- July–August 2026 (late-summer term)

Role summary
We’re looking for a sharp, highly reliable intern to support the Principal Director with client briefings and ongoing monitoring of global energy markets and foreign policy developments. You’ll help transform fast-moving events into clear, client-ready insights, often on short deadlines.
What you’ll do
- Support client briefings end-to-end: research, outline development, drafting, slide support, and final QA.
- Track current developments in global energy and foreign policy (e.g., major producer policy shifts, sanctions, shipping/security, elections with energy implications, regional flashpoints).
- Produce daily/weekly monitoring notes and concise “what changed / why it matters” updates.
- Build and maintain background briefs on countries, decision-makers, institutions, and key energy assets.
- Prepare meeting notes, action trackers, and follow-ups for internal and client calls.
- Assist with light data gathering (public sources) to support market/geo assessments.
What we’re looking for
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Energy/Environmental Policy, Security Studies, or similar.
- Strong writing and synthesis skills (clear, structured, and concise).
- Demonstrated interest in energy + geopolitics (sanctions, OPEC+, LNG, maritime security, critical minerals, etc.).
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and speed; excellent judgment and attention to detail.
- High discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive topics.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and PowerPoint (or equivalent).
Nice to have
- Prior experience in research, policy, consulting, journalism, or think tanks.
- Familiarity with common sources (e.g., official government releases, IEA/EIA/OPEC publications, reputable financial press).
- Highly Preferred: Foreign languages relevant to energy/foreign policy regions such as Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, French

Remote work requires a reliable internet connection and the ability to maintain a professional, secure workspace. The company will require the use of approved devices (a company laptop will be provided), security controls, and collaboration tools, and may require occasional availability during Eastern Time business hours.
