Member and Donor Engagement Intern

MEMBER & DONOR ENGAGEMENT INTERN

 

The Development and Membership teams provide integral support and vitality to museums including the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising and donor engagement within the Development Department, with opportunities to support membership programs, fundraising communications, grant reporting, events, and cross-department collaboration. The Member & Donor Engagement Internship will provide an opportunity to learn about nonprofit fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship, event planning, data management, and development operations. The intern will benefit from direct mentorship from the Director of Foundation & Government Relations.

 

Tasks & Duties

 

  • Develop member & donor e-newsletters and key messages including: renewals, appeals, acknowledgement letters, etc. 
  • Prepare meeting materials including itineraries, meeting internal strategy notes, donor information, and PowerPoint presentations for donor/prospect meetings. 
  • Regularly interact with Museum supporters including members of Museum's Board of Trustees, major Museum donors, and Museum members. 
  • Prepare critical grant reports. 
  • Maintain accurate donor and member records and information. 
  • Plan key engagement opportunities for Museum supporters including a signature corporate partner summer reception and more.  
  • Support staff with events including tracking RSVPs, event check-in, and event-related communications. 
  • Respond to donor and member inquiries and monitor member and donor emails, phone calls, etc. 
  • Work promo table during community programs, concerts, and events  
  • Attend meetings and collaboration discussions. 

 

Possible projects

 

  • Plan and execute a signature summer event for Museum corporate partners, corporate members, and prospects.  
  • Grant writing and reporting. 
  • Donor and Member in-depth prospect research. 
  • Write Donor and Member impact profiles and stories.  
  • Support staff with event management and delivery.  
  • Tracking and evaluating all development efforts. 
  • Summer member promotion to gain new members/assist in development of a members’ event 

 

Requirements & Qualifications

 

  • Be responsible, flexible, hard‐working, ethical, and committed to the mission of The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. 
  • Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail oriented. 
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Be able to juggle multiple tasks and receive feedback and direction from Rock Hall directors, managers, and project leaders. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of team. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects with multiple deadlines. 
  • Ability to work in a professional fundraising environment.  
  • Comfortable working with team members who split time working in the office and remotely. 
  • Open to new ideas while being able to professionally present new perspectives and ideas.  
  • Desire to learn new skills and gain new professional nonprofit experiences. 
  • Must be proficient in computer skills including Office 365 

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

Intern applicants must be currently enrolled in a college (preference to students currently in a graduate school program). 

 

Details

 

  • Rock Hall internships are paid positions and for enrichment purposes must be willing to work within other departments. This may include working shifts with the Fan Engagement and Museum Retail teams. 
  • The internship is onsite, starting May 20th and ending July 31st. Exact end dates could be later with some internships.
  • Estimated weekly hours for this internship: 24 - 34 hours
  • Primary Work Location: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Library & Archives (2809 Woodland Ave., Cleveland OH 44115) with occasional days/hours at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum (1100 Rock & Roll Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44114) 
  • Primary work days/hours: Monday- Thursday 9am - 5pm with occasional weekend and weeknights as needed.

The Rock Hall is a world-renowned institution and a pillar in the museum and music industries. The internships we host are no different. Not only will all interns get an in depth, project-based learning and working experience, but all interns will also participate in an organization wide internship experience. Weekly career development sessions and or panels with Rock Hall staff will ensure you are getting the most out of your time at the Rock Hall and completing the summer with new tools and resources when it comes to beginning your career. All intern positions will get a chance to work on the floor of the museum to learn firsthand how we create the world class guest experience for our visitors from around the globe. Lastly, all our interns will get to experience summer at the Rock Hall and Cleveland, getting to know the city that helped build Rock & Roll, and all of the events and excitement we curate each summer.
