Human Resources Intern

Format: In-person / Hybrid

Duration: 11 weeks (Summer)

Hours: Full-time, 40 hrs./week

Compensation: Competitive hourly pay

About the Internship Program

The Asplundh Summer Internship Program is designed to accelerate your growth and open doors to future career opportunities in the utility and vegetation management industry. Over 11 weeks, you’ll gain hands-on experience, personalized mentorship, and exposure to industry best practice while contributing to projects that make a real impact.

You’ll collaborate with supportive managers and peers, participate in professional development sessions, and build connections that last well beyond the summer.

 

Role Overview

As a Corporate Sustainability Research Intern, you will be instrumental in shaping Asplundh’s sustainability strategy by conducting in-depth research to identify opportunities for environmentally responsible practices in our new home office. You will engage with stakeholders across departments, analyze data, and develop actionable recommendations for the launch of our Corporate Sustainability Program. This role combines analytical rigor with creative problem-solving and offers a unique opportunity to influence initiatives that align with our commitment to sustainability.

 

Skills Required

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Interest in HR systems, data, and process optimization.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Interest in learning about HR operations, talent management, and HR technology.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

 

Key Responsibilities by Rotation

HR Business Partners (HRBPs)

  • Support employee relations activities and HR case management.
  • Assist with workforce planning and organizational change efforts.
  • Participate in policy interpretation and manager consultations.
  • Shadow HRBPs during meetings with leaders and field teams.

 

Total Rewards (Compensation & Benefits)

  • Assist with compensation analysis, salary benchmarking, and job leveling.
  • Support benefits administration and open enrollment preparation.
  • Help document compensation guidelines and governance processes.
  • Analyze market data and internal pay equity.

 

HR Information Systems (HRIS)

  • Support HR system data audits, reporting, and process documentation.
  • Assist with system testing, workflow enhancements, and integrations.
  • Help build standard HR metrics reports and dashboards.
  • Contribute to HR technology optimization initiatives.

 

Learning & Development (L&D)

  • Support onboarding and training program development.
  • Assist with learning content creation and LMS administration.
  • Coordinate leadership development programs and skills training.
  • Analyze training participation and effectiveness data.

 

Talent Acquisition (Recruiting)

  • Support full-cycle recruiting activities, including sourcing and screening candidates.
  • Assist with candidate experience enhancement initiatives.
  • Participate in internship, early-career, and diversity recruitment programs.
  • Help create recruiting tools such as interview guides and process templates.
