Grants Internship

Urban Librarians Unite is a nationally recognized 501c3 not for profit organization focusing on development, grantwriting, and fundraising with some programmatic work depending on student time, interest, and availability. 

 

Urban Librarians Unite has been working on behalf of library workers for over 14 years. The organization has recently hired a full time development officer who is an experienced librarian and library administrator. This internship will focus on the process of applying for and receiving grants, the structure of grants, and the process of researching & writing grants. 

 

ULU is also engaged in doing work around the migrant and refugee communities in America and may offer some opportunities for this internship to involve that work as well depending on workload and time. 

 

The intern will be encouraged to find and apply for grants for the organization as well as engaged in our larger fundraising efforts. They will be given the opportunity to critique grants, research applications, and develop leads. 

 

Urban Librarians Unite is also embarking on a strategic planning process and this intern will be involved in that process from a planning and information gathering perspective. 

The ideal candidate will be a student in the Graduate School of
Library and Information Studies who will be capable of advanced writing and research efforts and work on both a hyperlocal (NYC) and national scale. 

 

This will be a 150 hour Internship with a $2,700 stipend for the successful candidate
