Video Editing Intern (Comedy)
Video Editing Intern (Remote | College Credit)
SlapStik Comedy Entertainment
About Us
SlapStik Comedy gives independent comedians a stage—and gives audiences something to laugh about that isn’t their group chat. Through podcasts, our magazine, video content, and live-style projects, we spotlight rising talent and build a home for funny creatives. We’ve grown a community of 32,000+ followers and we’re just getting started.
We’re big on collaboration, clear expectations, and feedback that helps you level up (not break your spirit). Supervisors work with you—not against you.
Position Overview
We’re looking for creative, reliable video editing interns to join our audio/video team. If you love editing, can take feedback without taking it personally, and enjoy working in a fun environment, you’ll fit right in.
This role offers college credit and real portfolio-worthy projects—because “I made a cool transition once” is not a long-term plan (no shade).
What You’ll Do
Edit video projects for SlapStik content (short-form clips, promos, podcast/video episodes, and more).
Make creative, engaging choices that match the tone of comedy content (pacing matters).
Collaborate with other editors/creatives when needed—no lone-wolf chaos.
Apply feedback from team leads and comedians to hit the goal of each project.
Stay organized with file naming, exports, and versioning (your future self will thank you).
Attend weekly team meetings with webcam on.
Communicate with the team via Microsoft Teams + email.
What We’re Looking For
We don’t care if you’re self-taught, in school, graduated, or learned editing from YouTube at 2 a.m. We care that you can do the work and communicate like a pro.
Available ~10 hours/week
Able to attend meetings Sundays, 12pm–2pm EST
Skilled in at least one editing platform (Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, etc.)
Comfortable working with AAF project files or able to convert accurately when needed
Can work independently, meet deadlines, and ask questions when stuck
Open to feedback and willing to revise edits (it’s part of the job, not a punishment)
Enjoys a fun, creative environment and understands comedy pacing
Bonus points if you:
Have experience editing shorts (TikTok/Reels/YouTube Shorts)
Know basic audio cleanup (levels, noise reduction, dialogue clarity)
Can spot a “dead moment” and tighten it without being asked
To Apply
Please submit: Resume + Portfolio + Cover Letter (PDF preferred).
Use your cover letter to tell us:
Who you are as an editor
Why SlapStik interests you
What you want to create long-term (social media, film/TV, comedy content, etc.)
Portfolio tips: links are fine—if it’s just a website link, upload a one-page PDF with the link.

After the application closes:
We typically review applications within 2 weeks, but interviews may be scheduled as soon as 2 days after closing depending on volume. Keep an eye on your email.
We can’t wait to see what you create—show us your style.
If you want, I can also give you two alternate versions:
More corporate / less funny (for cautious applicants), and
Funniest acceptable version (still professional, but with more SlapStik flavor).
