Position Summary

NOTE: CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME. ALL TIMES SHOWN ARE IN EASTERN TIME.

Under the direction of the Dean of Students and Campus Services, the person in this position is responsible for communications projects and other public relations activities supporting the College's mission.

Salary: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule C3, Rank I: $47,046-$78,307.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Dean of Students and Campus Services (Dean) or  supervisor.

  1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of identified sensitive information and confidentiality of departmental information.
  3. Serve as internal and external public relations officer and public information officer for the President and the campus.
  4. Write internal and external communications, including press releases, as directed by the Dean and/or the President.
  5. Develop communication and/or marketing plans to promote the vision, mission, goals, and achievements of the College.
  6. Proactively or in response to requests, submit materials to journals, associations, or other external media.
  7. Write Web page content; increase the online presence of the College through the Internet with social networking sites.
  8. Attend College events and participate in public relations activities for the College.
  9. Research and compose content for dissemination through a variety of media, such as internal or external publications, brochures , posters, newsletters, websites, presentations, development/fundraising materials, press packages, and/or broadcast media.
  10. Responsible for taking photos for campus events.
  11. Assist with the planning and execution of alumni, donor, and other outreach activities and programs that cultivate community support.
  12. Assist with planning special events and meetings, as well as participate in conferences and/or trade shows.
  13. Coordinate the production of materials, to include content/style editing, designing,  printing, photography, videography, and/or copywriting.
  14. Coordinate all media relations and activities.
  15. Evaluate the effectiveness of communications, public relations, and/or marketing programs.
  16. Design and coordinate printing of materials.
  17. Coordinate marketing and communication calendars, production schedules, and deadlines, including coordination of work carried out by external vendors.
  18. Publish monthly newsletter to internal and external stakeholders.
  19. Maintain files, databases, and electronic records of materials.
  20. Assist with and participate in recruiting activities, campus tours, Preview Days, and New Student Experience.
  21. Assist with ensuring that information communicated in College publications, the College website, and other College resources is updated and accurate.
  22. As a Campus Security Authority (CSA), report to the official or office designated by the institution to collect crime report information, such as the campus police or security department, those allegations of Clery Act crimes that the CSA concludes were made in good faith.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College.
  2. Remain current in and enhance professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.
  3. Interact with and serve a diverse student population in a courteous and friendly manner.
  4. Adhere to College standards of professionalism and confidentiality, including courteous and friendly interaction with other CVCC employees.
  5. Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies and assigned by supervisor or dean.
  6. Recruit potential students to the College and assist in retention efforts.
  7. Represent theinstitution in a positive manner.
  8. Attend department and division meetings.
  9. Participate in registration, regular registration, and schedule adjustment as assigned.
  10. Serve on committeesas assigned.
  11. Participate ingraduation.
  12. Participate inthe College's strategic planning and strategic enrollment management planning processes.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.


 

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution
  • One (1) year of directly related full-time work experience
  • Proficiency in social media; ability to help develop a more substantial presence online 
  • Proficiency with Adobe InDesignor similar desktop publishing software
  • Familiarity with content management systems and social network software (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube, and/or TubeMogul.com.)
  • Professional experience using social media in a business environment Experience with digital photography and editing
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • High degree of workplace professionalism Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills; proficiency in the English language
  • Proficient use of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

Three (3) years of directly related full-time work experience
