Public Relations and Business Intern
Work with the AMSEAS Administration Team to help promote marine conservation through action and disseminate conservation-driven information by using social media and marketing platforms to reach a wide variety of audiences.
Specific projects include but are not limited to:
- Business Administration: Support the AMSEAS Office Administrator in all aspects of non-profit management.
- Social Media and Marketing: Create content for all social media platforms, process social media analytics, and implement a plan to increase audience reach. Help with monthly email blasts and content for newsletters.
- Website: Work with management on website content and design updates.
- Donor Relations: Work with management entering data into Donor Perfect, processing memberships, and drafting letters to donors and members.
- Fundraising: Help with all aspects of fundraising initiatives and events (e.g., sending out invitations, making phone calls for sponsorships, creating signage for events, sending out thank you letters, etc.).
- Grant Writing: Research funding opportunities, assist with creating applications and grant proposals, assist with generating reports to funders.
Our objectives for students include improving general communication skills, identifying and developing engaging ways to promote marine conservation through action, analyzing the trends in communications with a wide audience, and developing marketing plans to further conservation efforts.
All internships must be completed for course credit. Interns will be asked to complete a final research project highlighting the skills they have learned and exploring more deeply an aspect of AMSEAS research.
