Engineering Intern
This position assists the Project Engineer, Engineering Technician III, and staff in construction project observation, surveying, drafting, inventories as well as other engineering related tasks.
Examples of Duties
-Assists in surveying and construction observation of municipal improvement projects such as water and sewer mains, curb and gutter, street lights, sidewalks and streets.
-Consults plans and specifications to determine compliance; prepares spreadsheets and haul sheets for payment for materials used in construction; conducts pavement ratings and inputs information into the pavement management systems; assists in the hazardous sidewalk inventory.
-Makes routine algebraic and geometric calculations following well-defined procedures and formulas.
-Uses computer-aided drafting software or other method to develop engineering drawings.
-Acts as an assistant to a technical superior.
-Performs other duties of a comparable level/type as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of a high school education and currently enrolled in a curriculum in Land Surveying, Engineering Technology, Transportation, Civil or closley related Engineering field at an accredited college or university with a grade point average of 2.75 or above on a 4-point scale.
Possesion of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
