Video Editor Intern

Summer Video Editor Internship

Longwell Partners is a full-service, pro-democracy communications firm based in Washington, DC. We specialize in high-profile political projects, such as The BulwarkHome of the Brave, and Republican Voters Against Trump

 

We are seeking a Video Editor Intern to support our creative and political communications teams by helping edit and prepare video content for social media, digital platforms, and political projects. This internship is designed for students or recent graduates interested in video editing, storytelling, and political media who want hands-on experience in a fast-paced professional environment.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Edit short-form and long-form video content for digital and social platforms
  • Assist with assembling rough cuts, selects, and final exports
  • Support video shoots by helping manage footage, media organization, and basic equipment setup
  • Collaborate with video editors, producers, writers, and communications staff
  • Help adapt video content for different platforms and formats
  • Assist with basic graphics, captions, and formatting as needed

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Hands-on experience with video editing through coursework, student projects, personal work, or previous internships
  • Familiarity with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or similar tools
  • Basic understanding of video storytelling, pacing, and sound
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to take feedback
  • Strong interest in American politics, democracy, and political media; you actively follow political news and current events
  • Interest in participating in video shoots, including being on set or in the field and assisting with filming, audio recording, and basic lighting setup
  • Ability to work in person from our Washington, DC office for the duration of the internship; this role is not remote or hybrid

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience or coursework involving videos made for social media platforms
  • Basic motion graphics or After Effects experience
  • Experience working on content tied to current events or fast-moving news moments
  • Personal Computer with Adobe Creative Cloud

 

Internship Details

  • This is an in-person internship based in Washington, DC
  • Interns will work closely with the video team on political and media content that reaches large audiences 
  • Schedule and duration will be discussed during the interview process
