Arts and Media – TA-080

Student Worker Opportunity

The School of Social Sciences and arts at College of the Desert is seeking to fill student worker positions for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is a great opportunity for talented and highly motivated individuals who are looking to gain experience and knowledge in Theatre Arts. 

 

Duties:

  • Student- worker will assist the instructor within monitoring students who need help.
  • Student -worker will assist instructor in providing perspectives from the student point of view comprehension, interaction, and discussion.
  • Student -worker will help and assist students and instructor in replications of all sanitary rules and regulations in accordance with the State Board of Consumer Affairs, IATSE
  • Student- worker, will help and assist the instructor to perform weekly tasks that include, classroom safety, sanitation, attendance, students’ privacy issues, care and maintenance of facility, care and maintenance of product integrity in prevention of bacteria, and classroom procedures/protocols.
  • Student- worker will assist the instructor in the replication and implementation of technical makeup applications in all the arenas of makeup related to curriculum.
  • Student- worker, will assist students while executing learned skills during lecture and lab.
  • Student- worker will support all learned make up techniques while duplicating the visibility of instructor’s demonstrations, makeup preparation, application, and protocols for and with individual student needs.
  • Student -worker will assist instructor and students while navigating through the Canvas Shell in understanding detailed technical information.
  • The student worker will assist and provide students with the instructor’s verbal guidance in learning product knowledge, ingredients for safety /sanitation, products that are non-allergic containing no chemicals.
  • Student- worker will assist and provide students with the instructor’s guidance locations for purchasing cost effective materials needed for content and curriculum.
  • Student- worker will assist students with the respect and responsibility with equity and acknowledgement related to course and content.
  • Student- worker, will assist instructor and students with student concerns, designs, creativity, protocols, demonstrations, relationships of career opportunities, and all-around well-being during class.
  • Student- worker, will provide support to students in accessing, repeating, implementing current entertainment regulations provided by instructor guidelines.

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective professional working relationships with staff, students, and the public.
  • An understanding and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students and staff.

Work Schedule

Working hours are expected to fall between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The student worker is expected to work a regular schedule of 16-20 hours per week.  Work schedules will be determined based on registered class schedule.
