Traffic Electrician

The City of Oshkosh is seeking a skilled and dedicated Traffic Electrician to maintain and enhance our traffic systems and city facilities. This is an opportunity to contribute significantly to public infrastructure while developing your skills in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Maintenance:

  • Construct, install, and maintain traffic signals and city-owned electrical systems across buildings, parks, docks, baseball diamonds, and playgrounds.
  • Implement and maintain ornamental lighting systems and city fiber optic and copper voice communication networks.
  • Engage in manual labor and carpentry tasks essential for electrical projects.

Site Preparation and System Location:

  • Locate and manage underground electrical and communication systems, including hardware and fiber optics.
  • Ensure site safety through appropriate setup of barricades, warning devices, and equipment.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Collect and analyze traffic data, maintaining precise records.
  • Generate reports to support infrastructure maintenance and improvement strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of 2 years of Journeyman level experience. 
  • License: Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician License; Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire..
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in diagnosing electrical issues and performing repairs.
  • Problem-solving Skills: Ability to efficiently troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues.
  • Communication Skills: Strong capacity to communicate effectively with team members and the public.

  • Compensation: Competitive 2026 pay range of $32.48 - $44.54 per hour, depending on qualifications.
