Traffic Electrician
The City of Oshkosh is seeking a skilled and dedicated Traffic Electrician to maintain and enhance our traffic systems and city facilities. This is an opportunity to contribute significantly to public infrastructure while developing your skills in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
- Construct, install, and maintain traffic signals and city-owned electrical systems across buildings, parks, docks, baseball diamonds, and playgrounds.
- Implement and maintain ornamental lighting systems and city fiber optic and copper voice communication networks.
- Engage in manual labor and carpentry tasks essential for electrical projects.
Site Preparation and System Location:
- Locate and manage underground electrical and communication systems, including hardware and fiber optics.
- Ensure site safety through appropriate setup of barricades, warning devices, and equipment.
Data Collection and Reporting:
- Collect and analyze traffic data, maintaining precise records.
- Generate reports to support infrastructure maintenance and improvement strategies.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of 2 years of Journeyman level experience.
- License: Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician License; Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire..
- Technical Skills: Expertise in diagnosing electrical issues and performing repairs.
- Problem-solving Skills: Ability to efficiently troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Communication Skills: Strong capacity to communicate effectively with team members and the public.
