Technology Teacher
Haviland Middle School, part of the Hyde Park Central School District, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated High School Technology Teacher to join our team for a full-time position. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fostering digital literacy and critical thinking skills in students and be committed to creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans for courses such as Introduction to Engineering, Digital Photography, Graphic Design, Residential Structures, etc.
- Facilitate a "maker" environment where students use various tools, from traditional hand tools to advanced machinery like 3D printers, CNC routers, and laser cutters.
- Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, ensuring all students are trained in proper equipment operation and safety protocols.
- Incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) principles into daily instruction, emphasizing problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Evaluate student progress through project-based learning, portfolios, and traditional assessments to meet New York State standards.
- Potential opportunities to advise student organizations like the Robotics Club
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Technology Education (K-12 or 7-12) or Industrial Arts Certification.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with high school students
- Must undergo fingerprinting and a background check as required by NYSED.
- Preferred:
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or OnShape), coding languages, and modern fabrication techniques
- Experience with Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum
- Ability to collaborate with local industry partners for student internship or mentorship opportunities
- Familiarity with restorative practices, culturally responsive pedagogy, and evidence-based instructional strategies
