Program Facilitator Intern

Community & School Program Facilitator / Intern (Full-Time, Seasonal) 

Job Description 

  

Position Title: Program Facilitator / Intern  

Reports To: Conferences, Community, and School Program Director

Overview 

Program staff starting date in early April (Negotiable) 

Preferred minimum age: Juniors/Seniors in College or 21+ 

Traits of successful candidates: strong passion for positive youth encouragement programming, willingness to learn, strong work ethic, willingness to give/receive feedback, demonstrated flexibility 

Experience required: basic facilitation skills, work experience with youth, work experience in the outdoors 

Experience optional: ropes course, lifeguarding, outdoor skills, environmental education, summer camps, wilderness programming, wilderness emergency response (WFA/WFR) 

Receive broad, interdisciplinary training, orientation, and experience in all aspects of year-round programming and management 

Facilitate a broad spectrum of ages, curricula, and programs 

 

Responsibilities 

Participate in staff training, which will include: 

Experiential Pedagogy and Philosophy 

High Challenge Course Facilitation 

Team Challenge Course Facilitation 

Waterfront/Boathouse Management 

Ecology/Environmental Education Facilitation 

Meal Procedures 

Evening Activities 

Tools for Team Leadership© 

Framework for Facilitation© 

Small Group Facilitation during spring AYF school programs (~April 20th – June 7th) 

Potential to re-hire for Small Group Facilitation during fall AYF school programs (~August 8th – October 31st)

Facility opening and closing during first and last weeks of tenure 

Individual project as approved/determined by Program Directors 

Other duties as assigned 

 

 

 

Compensation 

$650 per week 

Housing onsite 

Meals provided for staff during program 

Pro deals and other certifications according to job requirements 

 

 

Work Environment 

Onsite work is required during the spring and fall seasons at Miniwanca in Shelby, MI.  

The Miniwanca site necessitates the capacity to move through rugged terrain. 

All meals and housing provided during training and program.
