The Architect’s Newspaper (AN) has shaped architecture culture for over 20 years. Our annual print editions are trusted sources for architects, designers, built-environment professionals, and enthusiasts. Each issue collects industry news and offers insightful commentary, critique and reviews. working with both a critical eye and a sense of humor, its editors make connections architecture’s spectrum of cultural meaning and technical knowledge.

AN also publishes AN Interior, a design magazine made by The Architect’s Newspaper. In print for over a decade, the award-winning publication gathers evocative contemporary interiors, furniture, and products from around the world for its audience of discerning and curious readers.

Beyond these two print titles, AN Media Group produces award-winning publications, conferences, events, and continuing education experiences that deliver cutting-edge content to a diverse design community.

The Role:

We are seeking a motivated, sharp editorial intern with excellent writing and communications skills as well as an enthusiasm for or a demonstrated interest in architecture and design.

As an editorial intern you will primarily write news for web-first coverage. We are also interested in candidates who have (or want to gain) experience translating editorial content into social media through posts, Stories, Reels, videos, and podcasts. Please include your specific abilities when applying for this role.

Interns also assist in administrative tasks, support research and best practices, and gain exposure to other aspects of operating a small media company, including in-person and virtual events.

The ideal candidate is a current student or recent graduate in a related field of journalism, communications, or media studies; or, architecture, design, and urbanism.

You will work from AN’s New York office in Tribeca for up to 16 hours a week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Writing articles for archpaper.com and aninteriormag.com
  • Producing social media assets with oversight from editors
  • Assisting with administrative tasks, including issue mailings
  • Reporting on and attending industry-related events and conferences
  • Website input and maintenance, including uploading imagery, permissions, and metadata

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Prior writing experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and Adobe (Photoshop, primarily)
  • Experience in social media and/or audio-visual production
  • Interest in architecture and design
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Interview skills and experience

Salary/Compensation

 

The position is paid at the rate of $16.50 per hour.
