Software Engineering Intern
Software Engineering Intern
Prior coding experience encouraged but not required.
Successful interns will be strong candidates for full-time engineering positions, with full-time openings expected.
About DeepSpace
Building has never been easier, but it’s still pretty hard. Even with the most advanced coding assistants, people still need to design infrastructure like backends and databases and digest documentation in order to integrate their work with existing services. DeepSpace will change how people think about building by handling infrastructure and orchestration behind the scenes so they can focus on improving their vision.
At its core are pods, modular building blocks that natively integrate with existing APIs. Users can choose from a community sourced library of pods and customize them to meet their desired specifications, or build something from the ground up using our development agent. While a single pod is powerful, some projects require many parts working together. Spaces provide the shared context that lets pods exchange information and coordinate. They’re collaborative and persistent environments, where every change is instantly shared across the whole team.
Team Background
Donald studied psychology at Princeton and computer science at Cornell Tech. He has authored a psychology book, founded startups, and led engineering teams developing scalable, real-time software platforms. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and conversant in five other languages besides English. With strengths in machine learning, programming, and interdisciplinary problem-solving, he brings both analytical and creative skills to complex challenges.
Marius studied Mathematics at Princeton before building a career in quantitative research at Radix Trading, NYU, and Citadel, where he designed cutting-edge trading models and deep learning frameworks. Along the way, he founded and ran an immersive entertainment company in Romania. His path combines Olympiad-level math, world-class finance, and hands-on entrepreneurship — and DeepSpace is where those threads come together.
The core team is made out of high-caliber researchers and engineers from Citadel, XTX markets, Optiver and Radix, along with alumni of Princeton, Harvard, Brown, and Oxford.
Job Description:
You will have the opportunity to help shape the UI/UX of DeepSpace as it grows from an early product into a production-ready platform, while receiving structured mentorship and technical support.
- As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work directly under the supervision of DeepSpace’s founders (Donald and Marius) and senior engineers. You will report to a designated engineering mentor who will provide regular guidance, feedback, and code reviews throughout the internship.
- You’ll have a high degree of ownership and creative freedom, with the opportunity to propose original “space” concepts and build them end to end, from early ideas and prototypes to fully integrated mini-apps.
- You’ll also help design and implement React-based widgets, interaction patterns, and layout systems, contributing to a cohesive, high-quality user experience across web, mobile (React Native), and desktop (Electron).
Who We're Looking For:
This role is a good fit for builders — people who enjoy creating things, exploring ideas, and learning by doing.
You might be a strong fit if you:
- Enjoy working on front-end systems and user interfaces
- Can use AI to generate code
- Are comfortable with React or excited to deepen your experience with it
- Like taking ideas from concept to implementation
- Care about clean design and thoughtful user experience
- Are curious, self-directed, and open to feedback
- Prior startup experience is not required. Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn matter more than a perfect résumé.
