UX/UI Design Intern

**Job Title:** UX/UI Design Intern – AI Career Planning Platform (Remote/Flexible)

**Company:** AIWorkShield
**Location:** Remote (US‑based preferred; Northern VA/DC area a plus)
**Job Type:** Part‑time / Contract (10–20 hours per week)

### About AIWorkShield
AIWorkShield is an early‑stage startup building an AI‑driven career planning platform that helps students, parents, and counselors create AI‑aware, future‑resilient career pathways. The product is live and being piloted with schools and nonprofits, and we’re now looking to level up the UX/UI so it feels polished, human, and easy to use.

### Role Overview
We’re looking for a UX/UI Design Intern to help redesign 2–3 core screens and create a simple visual system (style guide) that we can implement in our React/Tailwind front end. This is a hands‑on role ideal for a design student or early‑career designer who wants real product experience and shipped work in their portfolio.

### What You’ll Do
- Audit our current web app screens and identify key UX/UI issues
- Redesign core flows such as:
 - Student “Pathway Architect” page
 - “My Chosen Careers / My Paths” dashboard
 - Counselor’s student case view
- Create clean, modern layouts with clear hierarchy and minimal visual noise
- Define a small design system:
 - Color palette, typography, buttons, cards, spacing
 - Basic component states (hover, disabled, error)
- Deliver designs in Figma (or similar), ready for implementation in React/Tailwind/Lovable
- Collaborate directly with the founder for feedback and iterations

### What We’re Looking For
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a design‑related program (Graphic Design, UX/UI, HCI, Visual Communication, etc.) or equivalent experience
- Portfolio that shows:
 - Web or product UI (not just posters/social graphics)
 - Clear layouts, typography, and attention to detail
- Comfortable working with:
 - Figma (or Sketch/XD, but Figma preferred)
 - Basic responsive design principles
- Nice to have (not required):
 - Familiarity with design systems and component libraries
 - Exposure to Tailwind CSS, React, or similar front‑end tech (view‑only is fine)
- Soft skills:
 - Can work independently with a clear brief
 - Open to feedback and rapid iteration
 - Interested in education, careers, or AI is a plus

### Time & Compensation
- 10–20 hours per week for 4–8 weeks, with potential extension
- Flexible schedule; work can be done around classes or other commitments
- Paid position – please include your hourly rate or expected range in your application

### What You’ll Gain
- Real product experience with a live SaaS application
- A chance to influence how students, parents, and counselors experience AI‑driven career planning
- Strong portfolio pieces (before/after screens, mini style guide, component library)
- Direct mentorship from a founder/solutions architect building in AI and edtech

### How to Apply
Please submit:
- Your resume or LinkedIn profile
- A link to your portfolio (required)
- A brief note (2–3 sentences) on why this role interests you and your approximate hourly rate

We’re reviewing applications on a rolling basis until the role is filled.
