About the Role
As Deputy Editor, you’ll help report, edit, and package stories across newsletters, articles, video, podcasts, and social platforms. You’ll also gain hands-on experience with audience analytics and distribution strategy – translating data into editorial decisions.
This role is a strong fit for a college senior, recent graduate, or early-career journalist interested in business, politics, technology, and how a media company operates.

What You’ll Do
- Write, report, and edit stories about different states, regions, industries, companies, and trends in manufacturing, innovation, energy, and AI
- Help produce newsletters and articles
- Edit video using tools like CapCut and Descript (or similar)
- Assist with shooting basic video (phone or simple camera setups)
- Adapt stories into LinkedIn posts and social content
- Track engagement metrics (reactions, views, growth) and help apply insights
- Conduct outreach to high-profile executives, policymakers, and investors
Skills We’re Looking For
You don’t need years of experience. We’re focused on passion, ambition, and curiosity – but core skills we value include:
- Strong writing and editing fundamentals
- Comfort working across formats (text, video, social)
- Familiarity with LinkedIn
- Basic video editing experience (CapCut, Descript, or similar)
- Interest in analytics and using data to improve content
- Organization and professionalism
- Intellectual curiosity about American industry, media, and politics
