Communications Director

Communications/(Creative) Director 

Position Overview

The Communications Director leads and coordinates all internal and external communications and works with the Communications Committee to ensure the church’s message is clear, consistent, timely, and aligned with its mission and values. The position is responsible for managing digital platforms, producing core weekly communications, and partnering with ministry leaders to develop consistent high-quality content.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Content & Online Presence

  • Maintain and update the church website, ensuring content is accurate, current, and aligned with ministry priorities.
  • Develop and schedule content for social media platforms, including graphics, posts, stories, and engagement responses.
  • Monitor analytics to improve reach and engagement.
  • Create and manage digital sign content. 

Weekly Worship & Bulletin Production

  • Work with the Communication Committee to prepare, format, and proofread the weekly bulletin and worship materials.
  • Coordinate with pastoral staff and ministry leaders to gather announcements, liturgy, and program details.
  • Oversee timely printing or digital distribution.

Church-Wide Communications

  • Create, approve, and send all-church email updates and announcements.
  • Establish a consistent communication style and voice for the church.

Ministry Support & Collaboration

  • Serve as the communications partner for all ministries, gathering content and shaping it for public use.
  • Provide support for event promotion, visuals, and messaging.
  • Create communication templates or guides to help ministries submit information effectively.

Branding & Visual Identity

  • Maintain consistent visual branding across all platforms and printed materials.
  • Create or coordinate design of graphics, banners, promotional materials, and signage.
  • Ensure all communication aligns with the church’s mission and values.

Project Management & Workflow

  • Establish communication timelines and work with Scheduler to manage calendar for church-wide announcements, events, and ministry initiatives.
  • Prioritize and organize multiple projects with varying deadlines.
  • Evaluate and improve communication systems and processes.

Additional Duties

  • Assist with other duties as assigned by pastoral leadership.
  • Coordinate photography and video for major events.

Qualifications

  • Belief in Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with website management and social media platforms.
  • Proficiency with graphic design tools.
  • Excellent organizational and project-management skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work well with staff and other ministry leaders. 
  • Awareness of church culture.
  • College degree or prior experience in communications, marketing, or digital media strongly preferred.
