About People's Voice

People's Voice is a Miami-based media technology startup that connects citizens directly with journalists and content creators. Our platform allows users to submit and fund questions they want asked to politicians, public figures, athletes, and CEOs. We're building a new model for accountability journalism and creator-driven content.

About the Internship

This internship is designed to provide hands-on learning in news monitoring, social media strategy, content creation, video production, and audience engagement. You will learn how to identify newsworthy stories, create compelling social media content, produce marketing videos, and drive audience action through strategic messaging.

This is not a passive internship. You will be actively monitoring real-time news, creating content that gets posted to real accounts, producing videos that range from professional and polished to funny and viral, and learning how media companies turn breaking news into audience growth. The skills you develop here transfer directly to careers in journalism, social media management, video production, digital marketing, public relations, and communications.

This is a fully on-site position at our Miami office. Remote or hybrid work is not available.

The Role

Traditional news outlets report what happened. People's Voice does something different - we turn news into action by asking audiences: "What questions do YOU have? Get them answered."

As a News & Social Media Intern, you will monitor breaking news and trending stories, then create social media posts and videos that inform our audience AND direct them to the People's Voice platform to submit questions they want reporters to ask.

For example, if a politician makes a controversial statement, you would:

  1. Identify the story as it breaks
  2. Create a social media post or video summarizing what happened
  3. Add the “twist” - ask the audience what questions they have and direct them to submit those questions on People's Voice
  4. Post across multiple platforms

You will also create marketing videos in a variety of styles - from professional, polished explainers to funny, casual content designed to go viral. We believe in meeting audiences where they are, and that means creating content that entertains as well as informs.

You're not just reporting news. You're turning passive news consumers into active participants.

  1. Monitor multiple news sources and identify breaking stories relevant to your audience
  2. Write clear, engaging social media copy that drives user action
  3. Create and edit short-form videos for social media (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts)
  4. Produce marketing videos in multiple styles and tones - professional, serious, humorous, and casual
  5. Understand how different social media platforms work and tailor content for each (Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube)
  6. Create content under time pressure when news breaks
  7. Analyze post and video performance and understand what content resonates with audiences
  8. Work collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment with real deadlines
