After School Teacher

Mister John’s Music is searching for a Teacher for its After-School Program, which offers pick-up from a variety of local elementary schools each school day. Each day’s programming varies and is split into two sections. Thus, section 1 runs from pick up until 4:50pm and section 2 runs from 4:50pm-6pm.

Job Title:

After-School Program Teacher – NOTE: This is a wrap-around care position at a music school. Although musical ability and appreciation is preferred, it is NOT required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop, Plan and Execute engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for arrival time before classes start and for MJM Club.
Provide support for lead supervisor of MJM Club Mondays-Wednesdays and full oversight of MJM Club of Thursdays and Fridays.
Support 5 to 6 After-School Program teachers/assistants/support staff.
Pick up students from local schools.
Run daily pick-up and dismissal routine with proper protocols.
Transition students as needed for class change procedure.
Ensure, with the help of all MJM teachers, that all spaces utilized for After-School Program are cleaned and cleared for a smooth transition to evening adult class schedule.
Attend Staff Meetings and Curriculum Meetings as needed.
Schedule: Must be on-site Monday-Friday – 3:00pm-6pm

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or Bachelor's Degree in progress
Previous experience working in a program involving children (school, camp, etc)
Demonstrated organizational skills
Although not required, demonstrated musical abilities
Must Pass FBI Background Check, PA Background Check, and Child Abuse Clearances as mandated by the State of Pennsylvania
Decision making & critical thinking, especially when it comes to running a childhood classroom
Ability to get up and down from the floor or small chairs multiple times a day.
