Construction Engineering Intern
The Construction Engineering Intern will assist TCAC’s Housing and Construction teams in managing residential rehabilitation and construction projects. The intern will gain experience in construction planning, site inspections, project documentation, and housing quality standards compliance while supporting the organization’s mission to improve living conditions for underserved residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with project planning and documentation, including scopes of work, cost estimates, and bid preparation.
- Conduct or accompany TCAC staff on site visits and inspections to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with program standards.
- Support rehabilitation and repair projects by reviewing contractor work, assisting with materials tracking, and ensuring adherence to specifications.
- Assist with home assessment reports to identify needs related to energy efficiency, accessibility, and safety.
- Learn and apply HUD Housing Quality Standards (HQS), Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) requirements, and local building codes.
- Help maintain project files, photographs, and records in accordance with grant and compliance documentation standards.
- Support coordination with contractors, engineers, and community partners to ensure timely project completion.
- Assist with data entry and progress tracking using TCAC’s project management tools and reporting systems.
- Participate in community outreach activities or housing workshops as part of TCAC’s mission to support residents and neighborhoods.
