Facilities Repair Worker
Introduction
The Department of Health Services, Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) currently is recruiting to fill a Facilities Repair Worker. SWC is a state run, licensed and certified Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IDD).
Work hours are 10:30am -7:00pm and includes every other weekend off with rotating Tuesday and Friday’s off. Hours worked on the weekend will receive an $0.80/hour weekend differential add-on.

Position Summary
As the Facilities Repair Worker, you will perform minor architectural or structural repairs, and preventative maintenance on the existing buildings and grounds of SWC and other campus agencies to maintain them in an aesthetic, safe and functional condition. You will also be responsible for making campus deliveries. This position works independently or as an assistant to other maintenance staff as required.
Salary Information
The starting pay is $19.05 per hour (approximately $39,600 per year), plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees is based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 03/10.
Job Details

This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing a cart up to 100 lbs, standing, sitting, kneeling, stooping, walking on hard floors, and climbing ladders. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.
Must meet the **State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy:
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Minimum of two year's driving experience.
- Must be 18 years of age of older.
Additionally, the driving record must not reflect the following conditions:
- 3 or more moving violations (with point reductions) and/or at fault accidents in the past 2 years.
- An OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months.
- A suspension or revocation of the driver's license.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Ability to work every other weekend, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy** to drive a state vehicle.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience driving box trucks.
- Experience with basic building and equipment maintenance and repairs (i.e., carpentry, carpet, drywall, painting, etc.).
- Experience with lawn care practices and basic repair/maintenance of lawn care equipment.
- Experience with snow removal and salt application in a work setting.
