YouTube Producer

👋 Hey! I’m Avery and I run a YouTube channel and podcast called Data Career Podcast. I help aspiring data analysts and professionals navigate the world of data analytics by sharing career strategies, expert interviews, industry trends, and actionable insights. Our mission is to empower listeners with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in data-driven careers. We have over 15k downloads/month on audio and are the highest rated data podcast in the US. And we have 53,000+ subscribers on YouTube with about 150,000 views / month.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and organized YouTube Producer (& Podcast Producer) to oversee the end-to-end production of the Data Career Podcast and help grow the channel’s reach through content management. This is a part-time role with potential for growth. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the entire podcast production pipeline and have strong skills in podcast platforms, content management, and social media promotion.

Requirements:

  • You should LOVE YouTube. You watch YouTube. You have a favorite YouTuber. You understand the algorithm.
  • You should know about thumbnails. Faces, text, colors, etc. Ideally, you can make them. If you’ve never ran an AB test, this probably isn’t for you.
  • You should be able to make good YouTube titles. Titles that make viewers click. If you don’t know what CTR is, don’t apply.
  • Be organized in Notion. Manage our episode planning. If you aren’t organized, you will hate this job!
  • Previous experience in podcast production, content management, or a related role.
  • Strong writing skills for crafting show notes and social media captions.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work from 12pm - 7pm ET partially.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with video editing or working with video editors for creating short-form clips.
  • Familiarity with social media strategies for growing a podcast audience.

Responsibilities:

Podcast Production Pipeline:

  1. Create thumbnails and titles
  2. Coordinator with our editors
  3. Write engaging show notes, timestamps, and episode descriptions for each episode.
  4. Upload episodes to YouTube and optimize the titles/descriptions.
  5. Clean and finalize podcast audio using Descript.
  6. Upload finalized episodes to Captivate.fm.
  7. Oversee short-form content creation by managing editors for podcast clips.
  8. Ensure the website DataCareerPodcast.com is regularly updated with new episodes.

Desired Skills & Tools:

  • Notion: Familiar with managing content workflows and episode planning.
  • YouTube Studio: Comfortable with uploading, managing, and optimizing YouTube content.
  • **Captivate.fm:** Experience uploading and managing podcasts on this platform or similar ones.
  • Descript: Proficient in audio editing and cleaning up audio tracks.
  • Google Drive: Organized file management for podcast assets and documents.
  • Canva: Basic design skills for working with thumbnails or promotional materials.
