Agronomy Intern

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Agronomy Intern to assist with field scouting, soil sampling, crop monitoring, and data collection throughout the growing season. This internship provides hands-on experience in modern agronomy practices, precision agriculture, and crop production systems. The ideal candidate will have a passion for agriculture, strong observation skills, and a desire to learn from experienced agronomists and producers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist agronomists with field scouting for weeds, insects, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
  • Perform and record soil, tissue, and fertilizer samples following standard protocols.
  • Help develop and implement fertility and crop protection plans.
  • Collect, organize, and enter field data into agronomic software systems.
  • Operate GPS units, drones, and mobile apps for mapping and data capture.
  • Participate in research plots and demonstration trials, monitoring plant growth and treatment responses.
  • Support the agronomy team during planting, spraying, and harvest operations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Business, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of crop production, plant physiology, and pest management.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to operate typical agricultural machinery, or willingness to learn.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in crop scouting, farm operations, or agricultural research.
  • Familiarity with GPS systems, scouting apps, and agronomic data tools.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in agronomy, seed sales, or crop consulting.

Compensation and Schedule

  • Paid internship – competitive hourly rate.
  • Seasonal position (typically May–August, flexible based on academic schedule).
  • Full-time hours with potential weekend work during peak periods.
  • Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement for field travel.
