Interim Executive Director

Interim Executive Director (Contract)

Organization: Louvis Services – Nonprofit Permanent Supportive Housing Developer
Location: New Orleans, LA – Virtual (with access to Propeller community workspace and meeting rooms)
Reports to: Board of Directors
Term: 12 months (renewable; option to convert to permanent Executive Director)

Louvis Services is a volunteer-led nonprofit creating innovative housing solutions for people experiencing homelessness in New Orleans. We develop affordable tiny-home duplexes and partner with service providers, universities, and community organizations to deliver real homes and lasting stability — while revitalizing neighborhoods like the Lower Ninth Ward.

The Opportunity

As part of a planned leadership transition, Louvis Services seeks an Interim Executive Director to lead operations, strengthen systems, and advance our housing and funding initiatives. This is a hands-on, collaborative role reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the founding Executive Director during a structured onboarding period.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Implement the 2024–2027 Strategic Plan, refine priorities, and support board development.

Real Estate & Asset Management: Oversee project development, coordinate property management, and ensure long-term asset performance.

Service Coordination: Liaise with nonprofit service providers to ensure residents receive consistent supportive services.

Revenue & Partnerships: Lead grant strategy, grow donor programs, and cultivate partnerships with community groups, universities, and funders.

Communications & External Affairs: Represent Louvis publicly, strengthen digital presence, and support community engagement.

Operations & Compliance: Improve governance, fiscal controls, reporting, and organizational system

Qualifications Required:

5–10+ years of nonprofit management, affordable housing, or community development experience

Proven leadership, fundraising, and grant-writing track record

Experience in property/asset management and service coordination

Ability to engage diverse stakeholders, including people with lived experience of

homelessness

Preferred:

Familiarity with Permanent Supportive Housing models

Experience with small-scale development finance and university/community partnerships

Strong communication, public speaking, and media engagement skills

Contract Terms

Contract role with flexible hours and defined scope of work

Option to transition into permanent Executive Director as the organization grows

Contract up to $50,000 for a 12-month term, with potential to transition to a full-time Executive Director role

May work from home with access to Propeller’s community workspace and meeting

rooms for collaboration and event
