Graduate Level Clinical Mental Health Counselor Internship
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Professional Counselor Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality mental health services to individuals, families, and groups, utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. The intern will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating therapy sessions in both individual and group settings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine client needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client goals and therapeutic techniques.
- Provide psychotherapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and provide support in areas such as grief counseling, addiction counseling, and PTSD care.
- Offer child and family counseling services, with experience in working with children and developmental disabilities.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Engage in crisis management and behavior management strategies to support clients effectively.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize telehealth platforms for remote counseling sessions as needed.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives and data collection efforts to enhance service delivery.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field; provisionally licensed or seeking licensure.
- Experience in mental health counseling with a focus on individual/group therapy settings.
- Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities such as psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with medical documentation practices.
- Strong skills in case management, patient assessment, and direct support for individuals with diverse needs including geriatrics and autism spectrum disorders.
- Ability to work effectively within inpatient or outpatient clinic environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
