Electronics Expert
Collaborating with a leading AI lab to engage Electronics experts as independent contractors. You’ll turn real shopper briefs into clear, confident product picks—phones, laptops, monitors, TVs/home theater, audio (headphones/earbuds/soundbars/AVR), gaming (PC/consoles/accessories), cameras/lenses, smart home, and networking. Your job is to make great buys obvious for a wide range of budgets and ecosystems. This is a short-term, project-based opportunity with full flexibility to set your own hours.
We’re seeking buyer-facing curators (retail/product specialists, category managers, informed reviewers)—not firmware engineers or repair techs.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate products using shopper-relevant criteria such as real-world performance, platform/ecosystem fit, ports/standards, panel/sensor quality, battery/thermals, warranty and support.
Write concise, objective recommendations with links, specs, pros/cons, trade-offs, and “who this is for.”
Compare options across price tiers and retailers; provide good/better/best bundles and note availability/return policies.
Check compatibility (console + TV 4K120/VRR, laptop + dock + monitor, phone + wireless audio codec, camera + lens mount/media), and flag common pitfalls.
Produce structured comparisons and brief buyer’s guides tailored to common use cases (student laptop, travel camera, small-room soundbar, creator monitor, budget gaming PC peripherals).
Review and refine AI-suggested picks; correct mistakes, annotate gaps, and add missing context.
Source from reputable, authorized retailers; avoid grey-market/counterfeit.
Ideal Qualifications
Hands-on background: specialty retail or category roles (e.g., Best Buy/Micro Center/Crutchfield/Sweetwater/B&H/Adorama/Gamestop), manufacturer product specialist (Apple/Samsung/Sony/Lenovo/ASUS/MSI), or credible editorial/reviewer experience. Serious enthusiast track records welcome.
Proven ability to translate specs into buyer decisions (e.g., OLED vs. Mini-LED, IPS vs. VA, DCI-P3 coverage, HDMI 2.1 features, NVMe vs. SATA, LDAC/aptX, IBIS/phase-detect AF).
Comfortable cross-shopping multiple retailers and price tiers; fluent with linking, specs, and balanced pros/cons.
Sound judgment on safety and compliance (power/voltage, battery/charger standards, authorized accessories, warranty implications). No repair instructions or unsafe modding.
