Social Media Content Specialist

SUMMARY: 

Works with the Senior Communications Manager to provide content creation and social media support for Canal Convergence for up to seven weeks beginning mid-October.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Under direction of supervisor) 

  1. Develops social media messaging and posts in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Department. 
  2. Maintains social media channels, including monitoring the performance of post schedule strategies. 
  3. Collaborates within the Marketing and Communications Department to create custom graphics, video, and copy content required for social media and email marketing. 
  4. Schedules daily posts for Canal Convergence on social media platforms using Sprout Social and other tools. 
  5. Monitors, tracks, and reports results on weekly and monthly engagement and conversions via social media. 
  6. Researches and monitors competitive social network channels to develop campaign ideas. 
  7. Attends all 10 days of Canal Convergence in Scottsdale to document or capture content for use on social media and video. 
  8.  Coordinates with staff members who may be attending to obtain content. Ensures content is fresh, engaging, and supports the organization’s marketing and event goals. 
  9. Performs other duties as required.

  • Education: High school graduate 
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in marketing or communications, working with social media and video. Experience coordinating with a marketing department is a plus.

  • Displays and utilizes best practices in public relations/communications.

  • Experience with shooting and editing video. 
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, and others. 
  • Some knowledge of visual and performing arts; familiarity with local and national arts media outlets. 
  • Work Environment: Position requires regular standing, walking, and ambulating up and down stairs. May need to lift, push, or pull up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close and color vision. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. This position requires flexible scheduling at times, including evening and weekend hours.

  • Must possess valid driver’s license and driving record that is acceptable to the organization’s insurance carrier.  
  • Travel within the metro Phoenix area required to capture and create content. 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
