Executive Chamber Intergovernmental Affairs Intern

The New York City Office of New York State Governor Kathy Hochul is seeking an energetic Intergovernmental Affairs Intern to serve for the Fall/Winter 2025 term. This intern will primarily focus on New York City Intergovernmental Affairs.

Overview: Join the New York City Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) office as an Intern and contribute to shaping impactful service projects, events, and partnerships across the city. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in governmental relations and community engagement while supporting initiatives that directly benefit New Yorkers.

Responsibilities:

  • Input and maintain accurate data related to IGA activities, events, and partnerships.
  • Assist in researching and analyzing potential focus areas for service projects and community events.
  • Support the development of proposals and presentations for new partnerships and initiatives.
  • Help build and maintain relationships with stakeholders including government agencies, community organizations, and businesses.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of events hosted or supported by the NYC IGA office.
  • Assist in preparing briefs, reports, and other materials for meetings and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Political Science, Public Administration, Urban Studies, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Interest in government affairs, community development, or public service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with data entry or database management.
  • Familiarity with New York City government structures and community organizations.
  • Experience in event planning or project management.
  • Demonstrated interest in civic engagement and public policy.
