
Federal and State Policy Intern

The Federal and State Regulatory and Legislative Policy team sit within External Affairs and Communications. External Affairs is responsible for leading the company with a singular, consistent message and brand. We are responsible for external partnerships with regulators, state and federal policy makers, local officials, project community members and landowners, members of the press, and the public at large. We also lead internal communications and are responsible for internal brand and culture ambassadorship.
What You'll Do:
- Support the Federal and State Regulatory and Legislative Policy group in identifying policy issues that impact the company in applicable local, state, and federal forums
- Collaborate with the relevant business units in the company to communicate relevant issues and develop positions on such and plans to address and manage the relevant matters
- Monitor and/or participate in relevant trade organization, ISO/RTO committee forums and/or FERC meetings
- Research federal, state, and/or local policy issues
- Assist with and/or lead the development of reports, literature, and other content to support the policy team, as well as the broader External Affairs Team
- Participate in relevant internal company meetings
- Other duties as assigned, including supporting the broader External Affairs team as needed
What You'll Need:
- College student with relevant study focus and interests – beneficial areas of study or experience include: policy, strategy, statistics, and community or political advocacy
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Proficient writing skills
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable working in team environments and presenting in such
- Time management capabilities
- Self-starter in a remote or in-person environment
- Organized with a willingness to learn
- Highly motivated, energetic, and a positive attitude
