Graphic Design/ User Experience (UX) Intern

As an intern at HAI Group, you’ll gain hands-on experience while contributing to the Marketing and Communication Services team and supporting its impact across the enterprise.
Internship Program Mission:
To engage in the selection of undergraduate and graduate talent (in specific roles, advanced degrees) for an internship with HAI Group designed to support each student’s focus of study by evoking the utilization of acquired knowledge, theory, and skills for practical application at work.
Internship Overview:
HAI Group is seeking a motivated and organized undergraduate or graduate student in Graphic Design or Interactive Media. As the Graphic Design/UX Intern, you will work closely with the Manager of Creative Services to assist the design team in creating engaging graphics, illustrations, layouts, and other visual assets that align with brand guidelines. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to digital experience projects by supporting the development of wireframes and user interface mockups. In addition, you will collaborate with marketing team members to bring concepts to life, and help maintain design systems, style guides, and asset libraries.
The ideal candidate is familiar with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, has a foundational understanding of UX principles and user-centered design practices, and demonstrates strong creativity, visual communication, and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills, the ability to collaborate effectively within a team, and openness to feedback are essential. Candidates should be currently pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
This is a full-time, paid internship that is required to be on-site in the HAI Group office, located in Cheshire, CT, Monday–Friday. The internship program will run from June–August.
Major Responsibilities:
- Create graphics, icons, illustrations, and layouts for digital and print materials while following brand guidelines.
- Help design wireframes and mockups for web applications to improve user experience.
- Gather inspiration, analyze competitor designs, and contribute to user research or usability testing.
- Work closely with the teams across the enterprise to ensure designs align with goals.
- Keep design systems, asset libraries, and project files updated and well-structured.
Academic Background:
Currently enrolled undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Interactive Media, or other related degrees.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Familiarity with software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Figma, or similar.
- Basic knowledge of wireframing, user flows, and accessibility best practices.
- Ability to translate ideas into clear, engaging visuals that align with brand identity.
- Comfortable sharing ideas, receiving feedback, and working with cross-functional teams.
- Strong eye for typography, color, layout, and maintaining organized design files.
Experience:
- Prior work experience preferred but not required
