Internship Program
The City of Virginia Beach’s Internship Program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to apply and utilize acquired knowledge in field of study.
Eligibility: Must be a currently enrolled student (in an associate's, bachelor's, master's degree or PhD program) and be in good academic standing as determined by the school, college, or university.
Applications received will be considered for Spring and Summer internship opportunities that become available. We have a variety of departments that may offer internship opportunities in engineering, information technology, library, human resources, business, communications & media relations, as well as finance. Tasks may include working on projects, assisting with day-to-day operations, as well as attending meetings. Our interns often have the opportunity to go on site visits and meet with various stakeholders to learn how the City serves our citizens and tourists.

- Conventions & Visitors Bureau Media Relations Intern
- Virginia Beach Fire Department GIS Intern
- Health & Human Services STEM IT Intern
- Social Media/ Channel Support Intern
- Therapeutic Recreation Programs & Inclusion Services Intern
- Photography/ Videography Intern
- Public Information Officer Support Intern
