Commercial and Business Development Intern

Job Summary

This position, under general supervision of the Manager of Commercial & Business Development, is responsible primarily for assisting in the completion of assigned projects and tasks as designated.
 
Essential Functions:
 

  • Become familiar with Port of Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) Commercial & Business Development, Foreign Trade Zone, Operations and Communications areas
  • Assist in identifying marketing opportunities related to specified programs, such as outlets to promote the Port
  • Identify methods to increase Port recognition and the best way to invest marketing dollars
  • Assist in compiling and analyzing data for market studies, cost analysis, and commodity tracking
  • Performs research for cargo/business opportunities in expanding and new energy-related cargos within Texas and international markets
  • Learn Port operations and support strategies for multimodal logistics
  • Assist in the preparation and design of Port presentations required by the Executive and Commercial & Business Development Department
  • Perform benchmark analysis comparing PCCA tariffs to other Gulf Ports
  • Perform updates to contact database; works closely with IT
  • Assist with scheduling, preparing, and attending meetings virtually and in person
  • Assist with specified tasks and projects as required
  • Adheres to Port policy and maintains good employee relations
  • Completes assigned tasks and works required hours/shifts to fulfill Port objectives
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 
Additional Physical Factors
While performing duties employee is regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand finger movements; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
 
Environmental Factors
General office and outdoor work environments.
 
Minimum Qualifications: 
This is an internship position. Candidates shall be enrolled in an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Marketing or related field; demonstrated written and oral proficiency in the English language; proficiency in Spanish preferred. Strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.
