Less Boring is looking for a Graphic Designer to serve as a visual storyteller and brand strategist, responsible for creating compelling visual assets that reinforce brand identity and drive meaningful audience engagement. This role combines hands-on design expertise with strategic brand thinking to create authentic visual experiences that not only capture attention but also actively contribute to the evolution and strengthening of clients' brand narratives. The position requires someone who can seamlessly transition between tactical design execution and strategic brand development, ensuring every visual element serves the broader brand vision and marketing objectives.
Responsibilities
Graphic Design and Content Creation:
- Design digital and print marketing materials that consistently reinforce brand identity, values, and mission
- Create platform-specific visual content that maintains brand consistency while optimizing for each channel
- Develop brand-aligned creative concepts including social media graphics, email templates, presentations, brochures, and promotional material
- Design templates for social media posts, stories, and campaigns that can be easily customized while maintaining brand consistency across platforms
Brand Identity and Visual Strategy:
- Develop design guidelines
- Collaborate with leadership to align visual design strategy with overall brand objectives and business goals
- Research industry trends and competitor visual strategies to inform brand positioning and differentiation through design
- Create and maintain brand style guide ensuring consistent visual representation across all touchpoints
Marketing Asset Development:
- Design comprehensive marketing collateral for various campaigns and initiatives
- Develop templates and design systems that can be scaled across different campaigns and touchpoints
- Collaborate with content creators to enhance written materials with engaging visual elements
- Design presentation materials and pitch decks that effectively communicate brand stories and value propositions
Event and Experience Design:
- Create visual assets for brand events, activations, and experiential marketing initiatives
- Design signage, banners, and environmental graphics for live events
- Develop branded merchandise and promotional items that extend brand presence
- Design materials that celebrate brand values and connect with audience beliefs at industry events
Qualifications
- Experience: 2-4 years of graphic design experience, preferably in marketing, advertising, or agency environments
- Design Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva with strong understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory
- Brand Expertise: Demonstrated experience in brand identity development and maintaining visual consistency across multiple touchpoints
- Portfolio: Strong portfolio showcasing diverse design work including branding and marketing materials
- Marketing Knowledge: Understanding of marketing principles and how visual design contributes to campaign effectiveness and brand building
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present design concepts and receive constructive feedback
- Candidates must currently reside in the United States to be considered for this position
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with motion graphics and basic video editing capabilities
- Web design skills including knowledge of UI/UX principles and responsive design
- Knowledge of digital marketing platforms and social media design best practices
- Understanding of print production processes and specifications
- Experience working with diverse industries and adapting design styles accordingly
Compensation
This is an independent contractor position (Form 1099), and compensation is based on projects completed. Applicants are encouraged to include project-based and/or hourly rate information with their application.
