Job Summary
Reporting directly to the assigned the Director of Appeals, the Technical Review Residential Analyst V reviews and analyzes documentation to verify the accuracy of the assessment of residential properties for the Cook County Assessor’s Office (CCAO). In performing these duties, the Technical Review Residential Analyst V ensures that the CCAO and departmental policies are implemented in the valuation of residential property. The Technical Review Residential Analyst V provides good customer service to CCAO staff, taxpayers, and other stakeholders.
Essential Job Duties
•Ensures the accuracy of CCAO’s valuation data entry and coding of residential properties, which may include the review of the CCAO’s preliminary processing of residential permits, divisions, appeals, Certificates of Error, and supporting documentation.
•Identifies assessment valuation errors for correction.
•Meets designated assessment cycle deadlines.
•Effectively responds to and follows instructions and directions in accordance with management objectives, under minimal supervision.
•Applies CCAO policies and other applicable rules and guidelines to remain current and uniform with other CCAO departments.
•Ensures accuracy and thoroughness in all reviews and completes work in accordance with the Residential Valuations division’s standards.
•Conducts valuation determinations on special assessments as assigned from time to time by the Director of Residential Valuations or Director of Data Integrity.
•Performs other duties and assignments, as required, to achieve the overall goals of the Valuations Department.
•Works extended hours and weekends, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
•Four (4) years of full-time work experience in residential property assessment, residential property valuation, residential property appraisal or related field.
OR
•Current CCAO employee.
•High school diploma or GED certificate.
•Four (4) years of full-time work experience in residential property assessment, property valuation, or property appraisal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Knowledge of CCAO operations, functions, activities and the property tax system, as well as a thorough knowledge of CCAO’s procedures, policies, guidelines and other applicable rules and regulations related to the assessment process, or the ability to quickly gain such knowledge.
•Ability to perform a detailed review of documents and valuations.
•Ability to reason, interpret and use discretion in carrying out assignments and completing tasks.
•Ability to converse knowledgeably and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
•Good basic math skills.
•Strong organizational skills.
•Ability to work with others and excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with co-workers and staff.
•Ability to meet CCAO and departmental deadlines, including assessment cycle deadlines, production goals and the ability to effectively utilize time with limited oversight.
•Ability to become proficient with iasWorld.
•Must be computer literate, with skill and efficiency in accurately entering, reviewing, and retrieving data, and have the ability to use CCAO systems, internet applications and databases, Microsoft Word and Excel, as needed.
Physical Requirements
•Visual acuity to review and edit written communications for long periods of time.
•Repetitive use of hands to handle and or operate standard office equipment.
•Regular use of a telephone to communicate.
•Lift up to thirty (30) pounds.
ANNUAL SALARY: $76,793 GRADE: 18
