Job Summary:

 

The Athletics Department is seeking an Assistant Director of Creative Video. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Assistant Director of Creative Video will work as part of Beaver Creative to ensure the production of high-quality, compelling videos, motion graphics, and other creative audio or visual content for Oregon State athletic teams.

 

Teamwork, communication, cinematography, and editing will be critical skills for this position. The Assistant Director of Creative Video will produce content for a variety of Oregon State teams, including but not limited to recruiting assets, social media content, in-venue pieces, behind-the-scenes features, student-athlete profiles, and other production needs as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

 

70% CREATIVE VIDEO

 

• This position is responsible for planning, overseeing, coordinating, and crafting creative athletic team video content that effectively tells the story of OSU Athletics. This includes pre-production, brainstorming, scheduling, equipment management, filming, archiving footage, and post- production.

• Produce compelling video content focused on exposure and expansion of the OSU brand.

• Contribute to team projects and goals that align with recruiting and social media content calendars.

• This position researches and assesses new videographic methods and technology, and makes recommendations for new equipment and process enhancements.

 

10% TEAM COVERAGE

 

• Responsible for shooting footage of some practice sessions, games, student-athlete features, and other projects as needed.

• Responsible for producing highlights of events that tell the story beyond what happened in competition, providing emotion, context and meaning to facts through video and sound.

 

10% TECHNOLOGY MAINTANENCE AND ADVANCEMENT

 

• Developing and maintaining contractual agreements and copyright clearance including film exchange agreements with opponent programs for the purposes of mutual scouting.

• Researching and assessing new videographic methods and technology, and making recommendations for new equipment and process enhancements.

• Developing and maintaining inventory or video equipment, tapes, and peripheral equipment and supplies.

 

10% LEADERSHIP

 

• Provides leadership, trains, and assigns work to video intern and student workers, in a safe, respectful, and welcoming learning environment that supports their growth and development

• The expertise of this position will need to lead and closely guide student interns and workers as they will have minimal prior experience and need to grow in many areas surrounding creative video content as it relates to recruiting.

 

What You Will Need

 

• Bachelor’s degree in new media communication, marketing, video or similar.

• Previous videography & production experience.

• Familiarity with video software, such as Premiere Pro, Avid, Final Cut, Vegas, or like software.

• Working knowledge of digital single-lens reflex (DSLR ) cameras for video.

• Experience recording video and editing content for digital platform distribution, such as social media (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram) or web sites.

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite along with the ability to produce and create exciting audio-visual content are required

• A commitment to collaborative and respectful learning and working environments that are safe, inclusive, and welcoming.

 

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

 

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030

 

What We Would Like You to Have


 

• Two (2) years of video experience in an athletic department at an NCAA program or in professional sports (including minor league). Student work to qualify at a .5 rate.

• Specialized skills in video editing, video lighting and composition, camera operation, audio recording, and video production.

• Must be able to work flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends.

• Strong time management skills, as well as understanding of video & creative project workflow

Coaches or employees at collegiate institutions may also be considered IAWPs for PSAs that they recruit. Answers to the questions must be truthful. False or misleading answers could result in termination or disqualification from eligibility for any employment at Oregon State University.
